You can now avoid the pesky delays ahead of time!
Travelling across Victoria’s picturesque regional landscapes just got a whole lot smoother and more convenient with the introduction of real-time train information for V/Line services. This game-changing development allows passengers to access up-to-the-minute train arrival details right on their smartphones and other personal devices, making journeys across the state even more seamless.
As of this week, passengers can access real-time data for V/Line train services through some of the most popular travel apps in Victoria, including Google and Apple Maps, as well as the AnyTrips app. This marks a significant shift from the previous norm, where real-time information was primarily confined to platform display boards at train stations.

The introduction of real-time data is set to simplify the daily commute for many, offering vital information that helps passengers plan their journeys more efficiently. Whether you’re heading to the station from home or need to adjust your schedule due to unexpected delays, this innovative feature has got you covered.
One of the key benefits of real-time information is its ability to alert passengers when trains are running slightly behind schedule or if there are any significant disruptions on the line. This empowers passengers with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions and avoid unnecessary travel time.
The rollout of real-time train information is particularly timely, given the growing number of regional visitors and locals who have been taking advantage of the Allan Labor Government’s regional fare cap. Since its introduction, this fare cap has ensured fare equity for regional travellers, resulting in Victorians saving more than $4 million each month.
But that’s not all! Passengers on Victoria’s extensive tram network are also in for a treat. Currently, Yarra Trams passengers can access real-time information solely through the tramTRACKER app, the PTV app, or tram stop displays. However, there are plans to expand the accessibility of real-time tram information across additional channels, offering even greater convenience for tram commuters.
This move towards comprehensive real-time travel information aims to create a smarter, more responsive, and better-coordinated public transport system across Victoria. It’s all about ensuring that passengers have the necessary information at their fingertips to fully enjoy the reduced fares and an enhanced travel experience.
