As a part of the partnership, Founder and Director Kieran Blood, will remain at the helm, now joined by James Harding and Stacy File, founders and organisers of BeerFest Australia who have numerous successful Craft Beer festivals across Australia. Together they will make a formidable festival force with plans of growth already in sight.
“There has been a longstanding relationship and collaboration between GABF and Beerfest. Our vision and values are very much in sync and we share a love for beer and a passion for creating memorable experiences,” says Kieran.
“The experience that James and Stacy bring to the GABF brand is invaluable. Having delivered six COVID Safe Events in the past 12 months, together, we are highly confident that the next Great Australian Beer Festival in Geelong on January 15th 2022 will be delivered at the highest possible level.”
Regularly attracting a crowd of around 5000 for an afternoon of craft beer tasting and education, brewing demos, top local food and live music, with breweries attending from around the country, the festival has become an annual favourite amongst Geelong locals.
It was originally slated to go ahead in January 2021 but was sadly cancelled due to the restrictions on mass gatherings that were still in force in Victoria at the time following the state’s second wave.
Now, gearing up once again to take to the central location in 2022 with a new partnership helping forge the way, GABF will remain true to its core values and reputation as Australia’s most diverse and colourful beer festival, while also gaining an exceptional amount of experience, reach and added resources. This includes a continued focus on “local” with the Geelong region breweries as a priority, complimented with some of Australia’s best craft beer producers remaining key to the lineup.
Festival-goers can also expect an increase in workshops and masterclasses and a massive variety in entertainment, all promoting the region as a destination for craft beer tourism.
We expect the GABF that everyone knows, and loves will only get bigger and better.
Save the date – GABF will be returning on January 15, 2022 to the iconic and picturesque Johnstone Park with two sessions, 11-4pm and 5.30-10pm.
