Geelong’s beloved arcade bar Ms Bartronica has closed its doors

After six years on Ryrie Street, our favourite nostalgic arcade bar has officially closed.

It’s a sad day gamers: our favourite arcade bar Ms Bartronica, the daughter of Mrs Bartronica and Mr Bartronica of 335 Flinders Lane, has announced its permanent closure in the Geelong CBD.

Located in the heart of Geelong, Ms Bartronica has been gifting locals with a night of booze-fuelled nostalgic action with old school arcade games since opening almost six years ago.

Bringing a serious slice of retro gaming to Geelong, this was the place to go to show off your skills at Mortal Kombat, Ninja Turtles, Street Fighter, Time Crisis II, Mario Kart (glorious pixels and all), Smash Brothers and Golden Eye. Over the years they’ve also had NBA Jam, South Park Pinball, Gaurdians of the Galaxy Pinball, and Die Hard on arcade… If you ever wanted to summon your homies and trounce them at Mortal Kombat while sipping on an ice-cold craft beer or a $12 cocktail, then this was the place for you!

Following a couple of tough years for the business, with the lockdown, restrictions and decline in foot traffic in the CBD, the venue announced its closure via social media on Thursday night.

“Goodbye and thank-you Geelong.

“We appreciate all of the support you have given us for the nearly six years we have had our little arcade bar in Ryrie Street.

“It’s been a difficult couple of years and the time has come to pack up and move on to other opportunities,” the venue said.

“If we ever come back, we will open a much a larger venue!

“Any Geelong Ms Bartronica supporters are most welcome at our Melbourne venue and we will have a special beer price for you to show our appreciation.

“We ❤️ every single one of you!”

Decked out like no other bar in town, the small venue was loved amongst locals for its super relaxed vibe where you can sit down with some fine drinks and chat to friends, as well have some fun with all the games.

Ms Bartronica, you will be sorely missed.
