Kicking off the 2022 Geelong Rainbow Festival on Friday April 8 was a performance by the acclaimed Homophonic! classical music ensemble, bringing the disco ball to the Geelong West concert hall! The performance featured new work by ARIA award-winning composer and pianist Sally Whitwell, detailing the A-Z of her lockdown experience with humour, pathos, and a healthy amount of ranting; a premiere by Meta Cohen, inspired by the life and stories of a long-term Goulburn Valley Pride volunteer; and more!

On Saturday, April 9, the festivities will the beloved Pride March. This year people will be marching along footpaths from Johnstone Park to West Park, the new home of Geelong Rainbow. The march will be on footpaths only this year, so plan appropriately. Once arriving at West Park, a day festival will proceed with live entertainment, face painting, food trucks, craft sellers and community resource displays throughout West Park and the Geelong West Neighbourhood House, with proceedings hosted by Glambassabor Goldie Cox.

Sunday, April 10 is Picnic Day from 12 PM in West Park. Food trucks will be there to sell snacks and treats all afternoon. Family activities include face painting, a petting zoo, and live music from local talent Georgia Rodgers performing at 1pm and 3:30pm. At 2pm the Geelong Rainbow Pet Parade shows off the community’s animal friends, sponsored by PETstock!
