Like a phoenix from the ashes, the brilliant side hustle of Geelong’s Workers Club - Workers Barbecue - continues to adapt and thrive in the region.
For fans of American-style BBQ, you can never get enough of low and slow authentic cooked meats and delicious mouthwatering, comforting side dishes. Well, for those in regional Vic it’s good news, because Workers Barbecue are taking their charred, succulent and profoundly flavoursome barbecue meats to the streets.
Following a successful pop-up at Austin’s Wines, serving an incredibly delicious BBQ menu for all the locals, tourists and wine-lovers visiting Austin’s Wine’s new drinking destinations, located on the Austin’s family-owned vineyard in Sutherlands Creek out of an events marquee, Worker’s Barbecue owner Steven Nichols decided it was time for a new venture and purchased an epic food truck.
Keep up with the latest local food and booze news here.
Nichols purchased the van (a sleek, silver bullet) from Geelong’s Sticks & Bones Barbecue, which you very well may know as the Van Morrison the food caravan. Giving the yet-to-be-named van a new lease on life, the truck sees Workers Barbecue take on a whole new vision, with a focus now on events and pop-ups, alongside delivery.
Armed with a new trailer smoker, Workers Barbeque will be serving up charred, succulent and profoundly flavoursome barbecue meats at events, parties, festivals, weddings, music events and even footy games across the region.
If you spy this absolute beast at an event, we recommend lining up quick-smart to get your hands on the likes of brisket burgers (made with 10hr smoked beef brisket, cheese, pickles, mustard and bourbon bbq sauce), pulled pork burgers, smoked chicken sandwiches, pork tacos, buffalo chicken burgers, loaded fries, Phillies and perhaps event trays of barbecue goodness, stacked with brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, corn and bourbon barbecue sauce.

Boosting their foodie cred with a mobile snack station, we’re excited to see where this new venture takes them.
