Perhaps one of the best additions to Newtown in the last few years, the record store is honest and unpretentious, arriving courtesy of Geelong-via-Tasmania hospitality veteran, disc jockey and just all-around legend Sam Zaid. The simple, funky space is the first thing you see as you walk in. The humble set-up is kitted out with a communal table, custom-built wooden shelves highlighting feature vinyl, black tubs to dig through and a listening station to explore the new releases. Surrounding the record store is a stunning collection of artworks and installations from a collection of Boom Gallery’s temporary art exhibitions.
Since opening one year ago, the BNR vinyl residency has become one of the coolest spots for music fans. With a hefty library of rare vinyl and new arrivals in-store weekly, Bad Neighbour Records is a must-visit to secure those one-off pieces for expanding your record collection.
So bring your mates, bring your dog, enjoy a bev and pick up some fresh wax.
