Geelong cafe Blank Space transforms into a bustling NYC diner with new “SOHO Nights”

Words by Maxwell Bennett

On Thursday and Friday evenings, Blank Space’s SOHO Nights are the trendy dinner spot you won’t want to miss.

After first opening three years ago, Blank Space has proven itself a gem of the daytime cafe scene, providing delicious meals and premium coffee right in Geelong’s own cosmopolitan hub on Pakington Street. Now, the cafe is taking on nightlife with its new twice-weekly event “SOHO Nights.”

Following the NYC inspiration of the venue, SOHO Nights draw from the vibrant style of SoHo, the industrial New York City neighbourhood turned trending urban centre— complete with an exciting new dinner menu.

Keep up with the latest food and booze news across the region here.

With a focus on Latin American flavours, the SOHO Nights menu looks a bit different from what the cafe offers during the day; instead of the usual brunch fare, SOHO Nights offer shareable dishes from calamari to mushroom skewers, and even ceviche tostadas— as well as a section just for tacos— and instead of coffee, guests will find an entire page of delicious cocktails (including an espresso martini, the best of both worlds).

And don’t worry, there are dessert options, too.

Just as during the daytime hours, the SOHO Nights menu also makes room for a number of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options, ensuring that everyone who visits will have plenty to choose from.

Blank Space accepts both reservations and walk-ins, welcoming both meticulous planners and those who thrive on spontaneity.

For a dinner out with friends, a casual date, or just some drinks after a long, busy week, SOHO Nights might be the perfect destination.

SOHO Nights at Blank Space will be open from 5pm every Thursday and Friday at 4/343 Pakington Street, Newtown, with more info available on their website.
