Brace yourselves. This Australia Day every venue and their mother, across Greater Geelong and West Vic cities – are going to be hosting events to fill your night with, and your day. It’s all set to kick off on the 26th!
Help celebrate Australia day, with Triple J’s Hottest 100 from 3pm at The Inn Hotel’s Car Park, on Corio Street in Geelong. With all the food and drink in the world. as well as the best local DJ’s going ’round. To make the night even better, Triple J’s very own Lewi McKirdy will be joining in on the night.
The entry price is $10 and will provide you with enough music to kick on into the early hours.
If Darryn Lyons can do it, then you can do it too. So hit up Eastern Park (right beside the Botanic Gardens and Eastern Beach) in Geelong at 11am for all of the entertainment, food, fashion, and of course, horses – think Melbourne Cup Part 2! Tickets range from $105 – $290 depending on where you’d like to be throughout the day.
Potentially not as Australian as having a BBQ down at the beach, but for another family-friendly option, head to Irish Murphy’s for another celebration featuring Triple J’s Hottest 100, as well as a ‘gourmet’ BBQ style feed, and feed the kids for free! You can even head to their upstairs function room to see the fireworks AND it’s free entry. For more info, head to their Facebook page.
The final day of Festival of Sails goes of today with a bang quite literally with the Australia day fireworks going off at 9.30pm. There’ll also be market stalls, plenty of yachts and boats to explore on the pier and free music from Jr Reyne, Katy Perry Tribute, Michael Stangel’s Australian Classic and more. Hit the Waterfront of Geelong.
If you’re looking at heading up to Melbourne, then this might just be for you! From 11:30am till late into the night, at the St Kilda Bowls Club on Fitzroy Street you can enjoy a huge range of: barefoot lawn bowls, bocce, darts, and pool! The Hottest 100 will also be live streaming throughout the day for everyone’s enjoyment. Tickets start at $25, with more info on their Facebook page. Hint: This is the first year that the ‘Charity Bowl Off’ will be held, featuring members of Kingswood, The Delta Riggs and The Bennies!
Complete with free entry! If food is more your thing then look no further. From January 26th to 29th, head to the Coburg Cycling Velodrome, as it will play host to more than 30 of Melbourne’s finest food trucks! The event will also have two live music stages, a moonlight cinema, high flying circus, market stalls, performances and so much more! And it’s PET FRIENDLY! If you wanna hit up the festival, all you have to do is register at www.foodtruckfest.com.au
Today it’s also important to remember that January 26 means different things to different people.
