The Viva Energy Community Legends Awards return, celebrating Geelong’s unsung heroes
Viva Energy’s Executive General Manager of the Geelong Refinery, Dale Cooper, said the Awards embody their commitment to giving back to the community and is thrilled to see the return of the program and influx of nominations this year.
“Through the expansion of the awards this year, we wanted an opportunity to shine a light on all types of community heroes in the greater Geelong region. It’s fantastic to see how many people are giving back to their organisations and making a difference in the wider community,” Cooper states.
The 2022 Viva Energy Community Legends Ambassador, Cameron Ling, also known as a three-time Cats Premiership player, former club captain and the official “unofficial” Mayor of Geelong, reflects on the proceedings for this year’s awards.
“We are delighted to be announcing the winners at an exclusive Awards ceremony on Tuesday 4 October, and reward this year’s Community Legends. There were so many fantastic nominees which made the judging process extremely difficult,” Ling remarks.
“The voting for People’s Choice Awards provides further opportunity for people to be recognised for all their efforts in the community. We are excited that voting is now live and we’re another step closer to unveiling Geelong’s unsung heroes!”
Voting for the People’s Choice Awards is now live and will conclude at 11:59pm on Sunday, 18 September 2022. To vote, head here, or visit the dedicated Facebook page.
With over $75,000 up for grabs again this year, winners, finalists and their respective clubs/organisations will receive a share of the prize money. Winners will be decided by a panel of Geelong community leaders ahead of the exclusive awards evening on Tuesday 4 October.
