With uni going back and an influx of students re-entering Geelong, every man and his dog are on the hunt for Geelong’s best, and most importantly cheapest eats. Whether you’re a struggling student or just a sucker for a good deal, Geelong has its fair share of epic food for crazy low prices.

$19 Unlimited Wings

The Deck Geelong has long been a staple for anyone looking for good food, good drinks and an even better price point. Every Monday night the deck is slinging unlimited wings and unlimited coke for just $19. Yes, you read that right UNLIMITED WINGS for 19 bucks, wings are available until they’re sold out or until you’re all winged out. With new flavours available on the reg (the most recent flavour to hit The Deck is honey soy, yum), and heaps of dipping sauces to choose from The Deck is the perfect place to demolish some wings with your crew or to smash out a solo session. 

As much coke as you can drink and as many wings as you can stomach for the price of a couple of pints, it would be rude not to. 

Head to The Deck for their wing night every Monday and be sure to book so you don’t miss out on living your real like wing fantasy.

$10 dumpling baskets and $15 bao boards

A local favourite, Mr Umami’s has been delivering the flavours of Asia to Geelong for the past few years with their delicious handmade delights – from dumplings, curry pastes and sauces to duck dishes and sashimi.

If you’re a fan of this gem and their handmade dumplings and bao buns, packed with delicate and interesting flavours for when you’re keen to experiment, we’ve found a deal for you! Every Thursday night you can score $10 dumpling baskets, and $15 bao boards, which come with bao, Asian slaw, fresh herbs and Mr U pickles.

If that wasn’t sweet enough, there’s also $12 cocktails on offer EVERY DAY, including espresso martinis, margaritas, mojitos and pornstar martinis. Delish!

$4 Tacos, shots and beers

Tacos, tequila and cold cans of beer, oh my! If you can’t think of anything better than a taco Tuesday, look no further than El Santo. Slinging tacos, shots and cold cans of beer for the price of less than a couple of hours parking in the CBD. El Santo is offering up $4 tacos, shots and beers on Tuesdays so you can make the most of midweek drinks. El Santo has a heap of tacos to choose from, with chicken tinga, pork carnita and pumpkin for the non-meat eaters all making regular appearances at taco Tuesday. The $4 shots on offer also add some variety into your evening, gone are the days of a standard shot, instead El Santo ensures their shots are just as delicious as they are affordable, strawberry, mango and original are all fan favourites of the venue. Rally your taco loving troops, pinch some cash out of your mum’s purse and keep a keen eye on El Santos socials to suss when their next taco Tuesday is going down.

$30 Bottomless Mussels AND $25 Pizza and a Pint

Since the Little Creatures team decided to open a second brewery in Geelong to keep the beer coming to the east coast (a decision which we are very thankful for), Little Creatures has become an iconic destination and watering hole for the Geelong community over the last few years, coming out with the very best brews and events time and time again, alongside some pretty killer meal deals every now and then! Currently, the beloved venue is running bottomless mussels served with frites and bread every Wednesday from 5pm, gifting seafood lovers the easiest dinner ever. Plus, they’re Portarlington Mussels so you know they’ll be good.

Helping you out with your lunch plans during the week, the venue is also doing a deal of a $25 pizza and a pint every Wednesday and Thursday before 5pm. How good?!

$3 Pizza AND $15 Parmi

If you’re in need of a midday pick me up but all the cash you’ve got on you is the silver coins from your car’s cup holder, The Barking Dog has you covered. Offering $3 pizzas with any drink purchase from 2pm-5pm all day every day. The $3 pizza range includes all the classics, Margherita, garlic, mushroom and Mexican. If you’re feeling like treating yourself though you can choose from one of their $6 pizza options, including, BBQ chicken, Hawaiian and of course the crowd-pleasing Aussie. Treat yourself to a lunchtime treat for less than it would cost you to head through a drive-thru, and enjoy the hot cheeses deliciousness that is $3 pizza, is it just us or does everything taste even better when it’s not breaking the bank? If you prefer a parmi, they even offer those for $15 on Wednesdays. So good. 

Head down to barking dog any day of the week, score your pot of beer, soft drink or whatever else you fancy and grab a pizza for one. The perfect place to enjoy a feed with your mates or on your lonesome.

$3 Bao Buns

If Asian fusion tickles your fancy, Wah Bah had the meal deals for you. With two days’ worth of cheap eats Wah Bah should be top of your list if you’re considering a cheap date night option Wednesdays at Wah Bah revolve entirely around $3 bao buns. Mix and match and buy as many as you please, the combinations are limitless and it’s the perfect place to live your bao bun dream. Whether it’s a couple crispy chicken, a Parmi bao, a BBQ pulled pork, a Thai fish cake bao or a fried cauliflower or green herb falafel for the vegos and vegans out there.

If you can’t make it to Wednesday, don’t fret, Thursdays are also a killer night for cheap eats at Wah Bah. Their Thursdays are for dumplings, with serves of 5 dumplings costing you a measly 5 buck, $1 a dumpling can you believe it. Their dumplings are equally as flavoursome as the bao, and they offer up just as much variety. There’s pork and chive, fried chicken wonton wrapped dim sum and pea, carrot and shiitake for a vego option. You can live your Asian fusion fantasy every Wednesday and Thursday at Wah Bah. Be sure to book to avoid disappointment.

$18 Parmi

There’s nothing like a Parmi night and it’s something Murphys specialises in. Every Tuesday you can get one of their huge Parmi’s alongside chips and salad (or chips and veggies if you’re one of those people) for only $18. These Parmi’s however aren’t just your run of the mill chicken cheese and tomato sauce. Whilst they do offer the classic, decked out with ham, house Napoli and cheese. They also offer a selection of other delicious Parmi’s if you’re wanting to spice things up a bit. There’s an Irish, with iconic McDonnell’s curry sauce, bacon and cheese; there’s a Mexican think guac, corn chips, salsa, jalapeños, sour cream and of course cheese; there’s even a veggie or vegan option with an eggplant schnitzel, house Napoli, spinach and either regular or vegan cheese. Murphy’s Parmi night is definitely not to be missed, the vibes, the options, the PRICE! Gather your frugal friends and indulge in one of Murphy’s epic Parmi’s.

$36.80 All You Can Eat

Nothing is a cheaper eat than all you can eat. For just $36.80 you can eat as much as you fancy and choose from a menu of over 30 Japanese dishes. Whilst it’s not quite loose change, 36 bucks to stuff yourself silly is a deal not to be missed. The food is fresh, hot and authentic Japanese food and includes all things delicious. We’re talking sushi, beef carpaccio, dumplings, croquettes, teriyaki chicken, miso steak, karaage, udon noodle soup and even ice cream to finish off just to name a couple of Okami’s iconic dishes. There’s a reason you have to book in advance and that’s because the food is so damn good, and the price is almost too good to be true. Grab your mates, make sure you’re hungry and prepare to put yourself in the biggest and best Japanese induced food coma of your lifetime. Make sure to suss opening hours, Okami is open from around 5pm till late 6 days a week, so you can always get your all you can eat Japanese fix.

$28 Steak AND $30 Oysters

Owned by Geelong’s infamous Darryn Lyons, the last few years have truly made us appreciate the quirky, yet classic interior, the endless roster of live entertainment, the welcoming patrons and the generous pub feeds. Pleasing a whole lot of foodies in the region, every week at the Elephant & Castle Hotel you have sorted on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the chance to indulge in their locally sourced 200g Eye fillet and 300g Scotch for only $28 (with chips and salad), or slurp ten fresh South Australian oysters for just $30! Delicious! With live music and a chilled atmosphere, your weeknight dinner is now well and truly sorted.

$10 Pho

A long-time favourite for fans of all things Vietnamese, Pholklore Geelong has recently started slinging $10 Pho and $10 Bahn Mi for lunch Monday to Friday. It’s here to get you through the workweek and it’s cheap as chips, just in time for the chillier weather, Pholklore is here to warm people’s bellies but keep your pockets full with their pho special. With options to choose from chicken, beef, tofu, the hardest decision is whether to get just one or try them all. Chock full of rice noodles, coriander, bean shoots and your protein of choice Pholklore is gonna wipe away those office blues and keep you full alllll the way through your weekday work or study sesh. Grab your colleagues or your newfound uni mates and show them a place that’s set to impress without breaking the bank. Pholklore is THE place in Geelong if you’re looking for fresh, authentic and of course delicious pho.

$6 Meal Upgrades

A relatively new face in the Geelong burger scene, Smashville has quickly solidified itself as a favourite amongst locals. With burger options like their deluxe cheeseburger, signature Smashville, better than beyond veggie burger and hot chicken sandwiches Smashville really know what they’re doing when it comes to all things burger, chicken and fries related. Now Smashville is offering an epic meal deal every Thursday and Friday lunch. For an extra six bucks, you can add chips and a drink to any burger purchase. You heard that right, for just $6 you can make it a meal by adding chippies and a drink. That’s a deal that’s hard to resist, no more do you have to I’m and ah over adding hot chippies to your Smashville burger, $6 is a deal that’s too good to be true. You’ll be left feeling super full and you’ll have saved some cash in the process, what a win.

Smashville deal is valid Thursday and Friday lunchtimes only so be sure to head to their Newcomb location to try their burgers and Nashville hot chicken.

$16 for 1KG of Buffalo Wings

You might already know The Hop Inn as one of the go-to places for a knock-off drink for those out Mount Duneed/Armstrong Creek way, but this local business also serves up some mean buffalo wings. Each Wednesday, you can get one kilogram of hot, crispy wings slathered in your choice of Buffalo, Highway to HELL or Teriyaki sauce for only $16. You’ll have to get your hands dirty too — all wings come with ranch or blue cheese dipping sauce, as well as celery sticks to balance it all out.

Finding a place that gets all the flavours exactly on point has proved a difficult task for many wing lovers, but these legends have absolutely nailed it. For an extra couple of bucks you can even add on a side of chips.

$20 Pizza and Pot

Looking to lift your mid-week lunch plans? Wallington’s wildly popular Farmdog Brewing has your back! Signalling an evolution of McGlashan’s Estate, FarmDog Brewing is a vibrant family-run microbrewery with a keen focus on beer and gin. A typical Friday night at the pop-ups would involve the woodfire pizza oven roaring and the beers flowing, with the most popular choice being their Pale Ale and Small Batch Gin and Tonic. You’ll also find a crisp and refreshing FarmDog lager, a dark ale, and I.P.A, as well as clever specialty gins. Now open from Thursdays through to Sunday, the team are giving back with cheap lunches on Thursdays and Fridays between 11am and 5pm.
