Falls Raises Over $100,000 for Bushfire Relief

Things have been happening very quickly in the Lorne Falls camp. After a bushfire sparked along the Surf Coast, the festival was forced to relocate to Mt Duneed Estate, doing everything it could for attendees to ensure the festival went ahead and in the safest means possible.
The festival was quickly moved, and the organisers released a series of one day access New Year’s Eve tickets, with all proceeds going towards the Bush Fire Relief fund. In less than 24 hours tickets sold out, raising close to $120,000 for those in need. A $20 parking fee will also be charged to attendees which will also go towards the fund.
“Red Cross thanks the Falls Festival organisers and patrons for their very generous donations. The money donated will go to support Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery work with the communities affected by the catastrophic Surf Coast bushfires. Recovery from a disaster of any scale can be a long and difficult process, taking months and sometimes years. Our staff and volunteers will be there providing support and advice for as long as it is needed,” Australian Red Cross Executive Director Victoria, Penny Harrison says.
With New Year’s Eve set to reach a scorching 40 degrees, the move has proved to be the right decision for all involved. The festival is currently underway.
