After running for the past few weeks, the annual ‘The Band’ competition by K Rock has officially crowned its winner. The final happened last night at the Barwon Club, with local glam rock band, Dangerous Curves taking out the final spot. Runners up were Backseat Drive, and with hundreds of applicants there’s an achievement in even being able to jump up on the Barwon Club stage.
From winning the competition, Dangerous Curves will get to play at Run Geelong ahead of Samantha Jade’s performance. They also take away a massive $5k worth of airtime with the station and we’re sure a bundle of other benefits will stream in.
Essentially, the Band competition hopes to shine a light on the talent in the region and find the best unsigned band/performer around. Last year’s winner Sam Hanson remarked on the change winning the competition has made to his musical career. “Winning the Band 2015 has not only boosted my performing confidence, but has opened more doors within the music world than I could have imagined.” says Sam Hanson.
You can catch Dangerous Curves perform at Run Geelong on Sunday, November 20 or keep up to date with their antics via Facebook. The band also released their debut EP earlier this year, which you can pick up via the website (as well as other goodies).
