Join Charlie Marshall and Peter Farnan & the Home Bodies for this special event at the Daylesford Hotel- two greats of Melbourne music together for the first time
.After a sell out show in February launching his album, HOME, Peter Farnan is bringing hiswhip-smart art-pop songs to the Daylesford Hotel. This show will feature a rareappearance from his backing band, The Home Bodies. Farnan’s musical journey startedwith Serious Young Insects, who were part of the post-punk scene around the Crystal Ballroom scene at the start of the ‘80s. His songs carry on in that tradition, with an agile,quirky musical aesthetic and clever lyrics; songs about the passing of time, forgotten histories, failing markets, flailing demagogues, old paradigms and new possibilities.
Charlie Marshall has been an important part of the Melbourne music scene since the1980s. He’s been the guitar-slinging backbone for some of Melbourne’s finest bandsfrom the legendary punk blues of Harem Scarem to the soulful intensity of The Body Electric. Drawing inspiration from a range of genres-soul, blues, folk, punk, indie andjazz-Charlie creates a style that is unique and authentic. His music is born from passion, instinct and the state of high emotion, or ‘yearning of the soul’ known as duende. His songs are poetic, romantic meditations on life, love, politics, philosophy and the universe. In recent times, Charlie has been adding to his extensive back catalogue with self-produced home studio recordings and honing his solo live performance, melding voice, guitar and backing loops into a dynamic force ranging from gentle, intimate moments to raging, beguiling intensity.
