Championing men’s mental wellbeing in Geelong, Right Mate is hosting a race day for Men’s Health Week

The Geelong Racing Club has teamed up with Right Mate to raise money for mental health this June.

Founded by a desire to change the narrative and stigma surrounding men’s mental health, Right Mate was launched by Geelong locals Chris Lytas and Luke Outerbridge, two individuals passionate about not only encouraging the conversation about men’s mental health, but also understanding the actual issue and providing avenues for positive solutions.

The result is an online hub with links to community-based men’s groups, links to professional services and resources for people to be able to access, that cover a range of topics. There is even a selection of deliverable programs tailored to sporting clubs, Dad’s groups, Schools and the female audience, which they see as key to breaking down the stigma of Mens’ mental health.

With an ultimate aim to build a community of men who look out for each other and are comfortable in their skin and ultimately have the skills to encourage others to do the same, Right Mate is continuing to boost men’s mental well-being with the return of the Right Mate Race Day.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here.

Returning off the back of the success of the first-ever event last year, Right Mate have once again teamed up with the beloved Geelong Racing Club for ‘A Right Mate Race Day’ as a part of Men’s Health Week.

Celebrated around the world, Men’s Health Week (June 12-18 2023) seeks to highlight the importance of men’s health, and to promote and support the health and wellbeing of men and boys in our communities. The theme of Men’s Health Week 2023 is Healthy Habits – focusing on encouraging men and boys to build healthy habits by identifying small changes they can make that benefit their health and wellbeing.

Taking over the racing club in Breakwater on Friday, June 16, the event is all about bringing the community together for a fun day out while also raising funds for the local men’s mental health initiative to allow them to continue their work within the broader Geelong Community and focus on more social connection for men.

The luncheon will runs from 12pm until 5pm, with tickets including entry, a two course buffet lunch and racebook while the drinks will be at bar prices. There is the option of a five hour beverage package too and a raffle/live auction will also take place on the day.

The best part is, while raising funds for men’s mental health, absolutely everyone is welcome to get involved.

Whether it’s community events, support groups, tips to benefit your wellbeing or a safe place to chat, Right Mate is here to make sure you’re right mate.
