Café Bear and Scoobs move to spacious new location

Combining a love of food with a love of people in this bright new space.

Whether you need a business-friendly brunch or a lazy central Sunday hotspot, North Geelong’s Café Bear and Scoobs have become one of the best spots for brunchin’ since swinging open their doors a few years ago.

Well known as the dessert kings around town, Mark (Bear) and Dave (Scoobs) have just moved their café into a larger venue, just up the road.

Opening earlier this week, the cafe moved from its previous location at 1/18 Thompson Road to its new (and bigger) location at Gateways ‘The Place’ 12-14 Thompson Road in North Geelong, well known as the old Target head office.

A beloved part of the local Geelong community, Café Bear and Scoobs pride themselves on their individualised customer service and offering a safe space as part of the local LGBTIQ+ community, and this new venue will only help them to further their mission, with the ability to cater to larger groups of between 50 and 300 people.

Keeping things simple and inviting, the new spaces oozes a warm and wholesome vibe with a monochromatic palette of spa greens, timber and black. From the open dining space, the unique brick wall and the inclusive photo wall, to the lining of fresh greenery and spacious outdoor area, they know how to nail the finishing touches.

Still combining a love of food with a love of people in this bright new space, this beloved café is both a destination and an experience, with a menu that will keep you coming back again and again.

From Bear’s Big Breaky and Aimee’s Avo Salsa (with corn, zucchini and chorizo fritters) to Sue’s Eggs Benedict and the big vegan breaky, their breakfast menu has something for anyone with a rumbling stomach. If you’re more a fan of a simple breakfast, you can’t go past an egg and bacon toastie, homemade granola or the classic BLT.

The kings also have your sweet tooth sorted with a stack of fluffy pancakes with ice cream and maple syrup, to-die-for French toast; or their very special Sticky Date pancake topped off with finger-licking homemade sticky caramel sauce.

All-day lunch and deli options are also on offer (think a Mexican bowl, hamburger with the lot, lasagne, sausage rolls, pies and quiches), along with a sweep of delicate, wondrous homemade sweets that will slay you. Known to make the most amazing French Vanilla slice in town and mouth-watering cupcakes and cookies; it’s easily one of the best pick-me-up spots this side of Geelong.

With a penchant for catering and functions, this brand-new venue is perfect for functions of any type, from bridal showers, high teas, and birthday parties, to baby showers and Christmas parties. They’re currently taking booking for Christmas functions so if you’re looking for a bright and lively space with catering made with love, this could be just what you’re looking for.

You can check out the new venue at Gateways ‘The Place’ 12-14 Thompson Road in North Geelong from Monday to Saturday. For bookings call 0408 290 298 during opening hours or for more info, check out the website.
