Bendigo’s IRONSTONE deliver high energy, fast-paced metal with their debut EP Prophecy

Words by Alex Lynch

Hailing from the regional Victorian town of Bendigo, progressive metal heads IRONSTONE released their debut EP earlier this year entitled Prophecy – six hard hitting tracks that deliver high energy fast paced metal complimented by superb production and ear melting solos.

IRONSTONE’s Prophecy at its core is what I would consider ‘modern metal’.

Prophecy begins without hesitation, ‘Downpour’ – the albums first track gives an early indication of just how clean and professional the production of the album is. It’s often the case that metal bands suffer from below average production, in regard to IRONSTONE – this is certainly not an issue.

Track three of the album – ‘Better unseen’ – gives a glimpse into a more thrashy styling with delicious speed metal riffs that will get you feeling the energy from where ever you may be. ‘Killed a man’ – the albums fourth track and my personal favourite tells a dark yet interesting story with unique progressions and some trippy atmospheric guitar.

From eye opening screams and crisp vocal harmonies, to incredibly clean production and superb lead guitar, IRONSTONE’s Prophecy will undoubtedly draw good amounts attention and appreciation from the Australian metal community, which in my opinion is well deserved.
