Oh, and just a heads up – this is a family-friendly, no-alcohol zone.
There are also public toilets available on site.
Considering the chillier forecast and the open setup of Alfred Deakin Place, it’s advised to tote along your trusty camp chairs and snug blankets for a comfy and cozy viewing experience.
The immense five-metre screen came into the scene during July, gradually unfolding its magnificence in Alfred Deakin Place. Its approval by Heritage Victoria in December 2022 was like a seal of authenticity, and it’s not just about the match – this screen doubles as a contemporary public art platform.
This colossal canvas isn’t taking a break after the match. It’s already showcasing Daniel Crooks’ mesmerising 2012 video masterpiece, ‘A Garden of Parallel Paths’ in an endless loop. The visuals splice together haunting tracking shots of Melbourne’s iconic laneways, painting a captivating tapestry of urban artistry. Beyond the pitch, this behemoth screen has more surprises up its sleeve. It’s slated to play a pivotal role in the upcoming Ballarat International Foto Biennale, a visual extravaganza that promises to bewitch from 26th August to 22nd October.
Set your alarms, mark your calendars – the Channel 7 broadcast will kick off at 7.30pm sharp and carry you through the electrifying journey till 10.30pm. The match kicks off at 8pm.
