For the first time ever, the Geelong Comedy Festival brings a lineup of comedians to the regional city for three days.

If your idea of a good time involves uncontrollable fits of laughter, then mark your calendars because Geelong’s comedy scene is about to burst onto the stage like never before.

Meet the Geelong Comedy Festival, the city’s very first Comedy Festival, set to unravel its comedic charm from 26th to 28th October 2023. Brace yourselves for three days of non-stop chuckles as over 50 uproarious shows promise to set the city aglow.

Keep up with the latest in local news and entertainment here.

The brainchild of Geelong Comedy Festival Directors Blaise White and Kelly Baker, along with an ensemble of local sponsors, this inaugural extravaganza is destined to become the pièce de résistance on Geelong’s entertainment calendar. With a laugh-out-loud lineup that spans Geelong’s favourite haunts – from the delightful Beavs Bar to the vibrant hub of The Arborist, the hearty warmth of The Brewery Geelong, the mythical allure of Medusas, the majestic halls of Valhalla, and the uber-cool vibes of The Green Room – the city is about to be draped in a tapestry of side-splitting performances.

As the festival curtains rise, they’ll reveal a dazzling array of comedic brilliance. Get ready for a medley of local heroes and nationwide chuckle merchants who are all geared up to have you rolling in the aisles. This isn’t your average comedy show – it’s a carnival of chuckles that includes everything from traditional stand-up to the zaniest musical comedies, improv shows that might just spark your own comedic talents, cabaret that’ll tease your funny bone, and so much more. Trust us, laughter is absolutely guaranteed.

As for who exactly you can expect to see, there’s Tom Ballard Live, Sarah Maree Cameron with her show One Womb Please!, Nick Capper and Brett Blake with Double Impact,  Evan Hocking with I Don’t Get It…, plus shows from Adore Händel, Aiden Willcox and Isaac Haigh, Blake Everett, Chris Martin & Taylor Edwards, Ellen Mahoney and so many more.

“We are beyond excited to launch the very first Geelong Comedy Festival,” said Festival Co-Director Blaise White. “This is something Geelong’s been wanting for a while and we can’t wait to showcase the incredible talent this festival has to offer.”

But there’s more to it than just headlining acts. The Geelong Comedy Festival has its heart set on championing local comedic wizards, giving them a well-deserved platform to shine. It’s not just a laugh fest – it’s a launchpad for budding comedians to strut their stuff and add new layers to the city’s growing comedy scene.

And let’s not forget the best part – tickets are a mere $25 a pop for every show! The festival organisers have made sure that price tags don’t steal the limelight. So whether you’re a comedy newbie wanting to dip your toe into the laughter pool or a die-hard chuckle enthusiast ready to bask in a multitude of comedic delights, your wallet won’t be left nursing wounds.
