Award-winning chef, Aaron Turner’s Igni is officially open

The man behind Geelong’s newest favourite dining spot, The Hot Chicken Project on Little Malop St, Aaron Turner is also known for being part of the team behind the produce-driven and award-winning Drysdale restaurant Loam.

Now pairing up again with former Loam colleagues, Drew Hamilton and Jo Smith, the trio bring a unique 30-seat dining experience to Geelong.

Hidden in the laneway behind Village Cinemas in an old electrical showroom, Igni has no menu and is about creating a conversation between those who walk in the door and those who attend to your table.

Instead of having set meals, there is a degustation menu with five items costing from $100 and beverage pairings from $45. The emphasis is yet again on the produce, and with many close relationships with local producers it’s set to cause a buzz in the Geelong food scene.

Also at the venue will be various special events where guest chefs will take over the kitchen. With James Viles lined up for February 21 and David Moyle for March 20.

In even greater news to the new venue, Turner’s existing venue Hot Chicken Project will be expanding in the space next door – all the more room to chow down on spicy wings.

Igni is open Wed-Sat for dinner at 6-9pm and Sat-Sun for lunch at noon-2pm.
