Apollo Bay Seafood Festival announces its return for 2023

The beloved festival returns to Apollo Bay Harbour this February.

Staring at the sea while eating the ocean’s finest bounty is one of life’s simple pleasures, and the coastal haven of Apollo Bay has an entire fest dedicated to it.

That’s right; the Apollo Bay Seafood Festival is back for summer for its first proper event in three years. On Saturday, February 18 2023, the festival takes over the Apollo Bay Harbour once again for a celebration of the finest seafood the town has to offer.

Keep up with the latest food and booze news across the region here.

Announced on social media this week, the festival revealed its plans to return for a one-day event in February with the full program and ticket sales coming soon.

Taking over the picturesque Apollo Bay Harbour, we imagine food and travel lovers will be able to feast on pescatarian treats (think lobster rolls, seafood dumplings, huge paellas, octopus skewers, southern rock lobster, abalone sashimi, organic oysters) surrounded by the stunning sea view backdrop of the Great Ocean Road region.

You’ll also be able to listen to a selection of Australia’s best musical acts in the unique setting of the Apollo Bay Harbour with two stages showcasing a wide range of talent. Previous lineups have included performances from Beans, Bones and Jones, Dan Kelly, Nicky Bomba, Crepes, Libby Steel, Forever Son, Fraser Gorman, Jade Imagine, The Fillmores and much more. 2023 music program will be announced mid-December.

Past events have also featured a range of activities at Harbour Day including Off the boat seafood market, Bycatch BBQ, Cooking demonstrations, Sand Castle Competition, Sailing and Casting competitions, plus more. Fingers crossed for the return of these epic festival favourites.

The festival last went ahead in its original format back in 2020 just prior to the pandemic. Since then, with a swathe of restrictions and regulations to contend with, Apollo Bay Seafood Festival adapted, hosting a series of ‘Summer of Seafood’ (SOS) covid-friendly events, where punters could devour delicacies, dance and sample some of the region’s finest tipples in a covid-safe way.
