Anglesea Music Festival announces it won’t return in 2017

After five years, Anglesea Music Festival is saying goodbye. The Festival director Karren Stoneham took to Facebook to announce that the music and arts festival won’t be returning in 2017.

Losing their biggest sponsor Alcoa impacted the festival financially, and the bush fires that took place over the summer of 15/16 also contributed to ticket sales under-performing.

The festival gave young artists opportunities for exposure, offered workshops for developing music craft, and had a countless mix of talented musicians perform.

The director wrote in the statement posted on Facebook: “It is with sadness that we say goodbye to a festival that had all the ingredients designed to create community inclusiveness, adding social, economic, cultural and environmental benefits, while highlighting Anglesea and all the Surf Coast has to offer.” You can read the full statement below.

Its cancellation also comes with the news Motor City Music Festival won’t be returning for 2017 due to poor ticket sales. Which you can read about here.
