Sleater-Kinney are back, and they’re bringing their raw energy and feminist anthems to stages across Australia. Celebrating 30 years since they first emerged from the Riot Grrrl movement, Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein are set to ignite theatres nationwide with their distinctive blend of punk, alternative, and indie rock.
Originating from Olympia, Washington, Sleater-Kinney holds a special place in Australian music history, having recorded their debut self-titled album in just one night back in 1994. Now, they’re returning to the scene of their inception, ready to captivate audiences once again with their powerful lyrics and signature wailing vocals.
Their national tour, featuring headline shows at iconic venues like Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane, Forum Melbourne, Enmore Theatre in Sydney, and Metropolis in Fremantle, coincides with the release of their 11th studio album, “Little Rope.” The album, born out of personal tragedy and grief, explores themes of loss and transformation, delivering a raw and emotionally charged listening experience.

Carrie Brownstein, one half of Sleater-Kinney’s dynamic duo, reflects on the band’s deep connection with Australia: “For all intents and purposes, Sleater-Kinney got its start in Australia. We recorded our first album and played our first ever shows there. Because of that, Australia feels like one of the band’s spiritual homes, and returning there always feels like a homecoming, a reunion.”
