All aboard the sushi train sensation!

Geelong’s culinary scene just got a major upgrade with the grand opening of Hi Sushi’s Hi Bar Sushi Train on Malop Street, promising a delectable journey through authentic Japanese cuisine.

Serving as the latest addition to Hi Sushi‘s roster of quality Japanese eateries across the city, this vibrant sushi train experience brings a fresh twist to dining in Central Geelong. With locations in Waurn Ponds, Geelong CBD, Leopold, and Corio (and potentially soon in North Geelong), Hi Sushi has become synonymous with impeccable service, warm atmospheres, and, most importantly, mouthwatering dishes.

Keep up with the latest food and booze news across the region here.

For those unfamiliar with the sushi train concept, imagine a conveyor belt weaving through the restaurant, delivering plates of sushi and other Japanese delights directly to your table. It’s an iconic experience, akin to a culinary carousel where patrons simply reach out and seize the plate that tantalizes their taste buds.

At Hi Sushi’s Hi Bar Sushi Train, plates come at enticing prices, ranging from $4.20, $5.20, and $6.20 with special, deluxe and supreme sushi options, respectively. But the options don’t end there – larger items from the menu are also available for order to be delivered to your table. As an additional fun experience, if you’re sitting on the sushi train side of the restaurant, these larger dishes will be delivered via the bullet train above the moving conveyor belt of sushi delights.

The menu promises all your Hi Sushi favourites, including Salmon sushi, California rolls, sashimi, tuna rolls, noodles, ramen, rice dishes, and handmade dumplings and soups. There’s also delicious items like the Hi Sushi signature taco, tempura, Japanese tapas, bento and even an array of hot main dishes. Oh and for dessert, there’s ice cream, Dorayaki and Mango pudding!

Whether you’re a seasoned sushi enthusiast or a newcomer to Japanese cuisine, this sushi train promises a flavour-packed journey.

In a new move for the local chain, the fully licensed venue invites patrons to complement their sushi feast with an extensive selection of beverages, including beer, wine, cocktails, and spirits, while robot servers also enhance the dining experience – a futuristic touch to an already thrilling culinary adventure.

The venue itself is a visual treat, boasting neon signs, vibrant red walls, leather booths, and pendant lighting. A lively mural graces one side of the restaurant, while the opposite showcases the exciting array of alcoholic delights. A sushi window adds a touch of street-style convenience, allowing passersby to grab a quick sushi fix.

Located at 76 Malop Street, Hi Sushi’s Hi Bar Sushi Train is a culinary gem, open from 9:30 am to 8:00 pm on Sundays to Thursdays and extending its magic until 9:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Don’t miss the chance to embark on a sushi adventure right in the heart of Geelong.
