No matter which location you choose to dine at, you will always be greeted by friendly and attentive staff in a warm and vibrant atmosphere and a guarantee of delicious, fresh dishes.

Now the beloved local chain is gifting us a new destination venue with the forthcoming Hi Sushi Hi Bar Sushi Train, opening in Bell Park this year. Located at 199 Thompsons Road, the new dining spot will transform the well-recognised pink restaurant, previously home to Le Thai Chef Restaurant (next to the Post Office and opposite 7/11.

If you’re a fan of sushi or Japanese cuisine in general, then chances are that you have heard about a sushi train restaurant before. Also known as ‘conveyor belt sushi’, sushi trains are an iconic Japanese experience where a conveyor belt stretches throughout the restaurant and passes each table. Plates full of various kinds of delicious sushi and other Japanese delicacies circle the restaurant, with customers simply reaching over and grabbing the plate they desire when it comes around to them.

While details are scarce, Hi Sushi has recently advertised for staff (April 12) for the new sushi train venue, and another new venue in Newtown on Pakington Street, which is slated to open “over the next eight weeks”, which is seriously so exciting! Upon reaching out to Hi-Sushi for comment, we were told ‘May-June’ for an opening window.

Alongside the sushi train, the venue is also expecting to incorporate robot servers, to bring food to customers at their tables.

As for the food, you can probably expect to find all of your Hi-Sushi favourites, including Salmon sushi, California rolls, sashimi, tuna rolls, noodles and ramen, rice dishes and handmade dumplings and soups.

Regardless of what’s been served, the arrival of a sushi train restaurant is an exciting addition to Geelong’s north, offering a fun and unique experience to hungry diners who are wanting great tasting food in a fun and lively environment.

Whether it’s the possibility of sampling endless Japanese snacks or the thrill of taking a plate before your fellow diner even has the chance, we just know a visit to this restaurant is the promise of a good time.
