Want something different from your nightlife in Geelong? OCD have you covered with the Spring Social.
Typically tailored to the young bucks of the world, the nightlife scene should not be an exclusive club. This is something that the team at Old Cunts Disco (more gingerly abbreviated to OCD) are fully aware of and have taken action to rectify in Geelong.
On Saturday 31 August, OCD presents the Spring Social – a night of food, booze and shenanigans taking place at Rebecchi’s on Rutland Street in Newtown.

The café meets record store (thanks to Bad Neighbour Records) will be transformed into a club for the Spring Social. It is a chance to catch up with friends, old and new, whilst enjoying a more intimate nightlife setting. Taking place from 6pm until midnight, the Spring Social will include food and booze along with music to groove to. Taking over the decks, the Spring Social will see vibrant party sets from DJ’s Shanita Vice, misterjon and Jazzy J.
Kate McAnergney aka Shanita Vice has become a staple of the Geelong and surrounds nightlife scene. Starting at raves in New Zealand back in the 1990’s, life took a detour and McAnergney became a yoga teacher, before returning to the raves in 2019. The 7-inch vinyl selector has a passion for the 70’s and 80’s, sampling tracks across partystarter genres including disco, soul, funk, rnb, boogie, new wave, freestyle rap, synth pop and yacht rock. She’s often found on the decks with a crate of goodies at Limeburners, Bird Rocks in Jan Juc, and Captains.
Joining Vice is misterjon. The event organiser of the Spring Social, Jon Hammond aka misterjon has a passion for the nightlife. His DJ style is heavily influenced by the ambient – building walls of sound from chilled beats to set the mood before sliding into the deep house, tech house, funky techno and drum n bass hardhitters.
Finally Jazzy J joins the shindig, ready to unleash some old-school house on the crowd. Think dancefloor tunes to get your feet going! Growing up amidst the electrifying Melbourne rave scene of the ’90s, Jazzy J’s passion for dance music was ignited and has been burning ever since. His journey took him to France, where he hosted monthly nights in bars and clubs with his eclectic house mixes. Now, over a decade later, he’s back in Australia, bringing his infectious love for dance music to the OCD dancefloor. Bodies must move when Jazzy J is spinning.
It’s all cooking at the Spring Social. Whilst targeted at an older crowd, the doors are open for all, provided you can keep up of course. The OC’s still know how to party and cannot wait to prove it.
Spring Social is just one in an intimate series run by OCD so keep an eye out for more events.
