But let’s be honest, while pitching a tent might be special enough for some, it certainly isn’t for everyone. You either love it or you hate it. Thankfully for those who want to experience the thrill of the great outdoors while still enjoying creature comforts, we have the option of glamping, or “glamourous camping”. From a luxury safari tent to a quaint treehouse or a spacious barn rental, there is a getaway for everyone these days.
For those keen to experience this unique form of accommodation on the Bellarine, you’re in luck because a brand new glamping venture has launched – and it’s at a beautiful winery.

Coastal Glamp resides on the property of Bellarine Estate, (one of the oldest wineries on the Bellarine Peninsula) behind the Cellar Door, surrounded by vines. Coastal Glamp aims to give you the freedom to explore the wonders of the peninsula, whilst providing a unique, fun and welcoming experience.
Located across a 100-acre property on the northern slopes of the hills between Drysdale and Portarlington, overlooking Corio Bay, the beautiful space, a glamping village if you will, can accommodate a number of tents in different formations, allowing for couples, families or small groups to enjoy their own space. There are special zones for guests who want more privacy, and communal space for guests who want to mingle and meet like-minded holiday makers.

As for the tent itself, there’s two on offer: the standard or a large tent.
The Standard Bell Tent is 4×4 metres and perfect for a romantic getaway or a weekend away with the kids. Waterproof, this tent comes fully furnished with mattresses, bedding, rugs, smoke alarm, fan, coffee table and esky.
For something with more room, the Extra Large Bell Tent is 5×5 metres and is ideal for a small group of 4-5 people. There’s only two of these available but again they are waterproof and come fully furnished with mattresses, bedding, rugs, smoke alarm, fan, coffee table and esky.
There’s also an option to add on a special mystery hamper packed with a bottle of sparkling, some awesome local produce and goodies which will be ready in your tent on arrival.
While you’re there, the options for relaxation and exploration are endless. You can kick back with your partner and a glass of wine in the beautiful surroundings, or in the beer garden. Brought the kids? There are outdoor games for all and a big screen for movies and games.
After you’ve slept beneath the stars, you’ll wake up refreshed, grab some brekky on site and you are ready for a new day. The Cellar Door also offers lunch, so you don’t even have to go anywhere at all!
Glamping at Bellarine Estate is available now until April 2023. The season will then reopen for the warmer months again in November 2023.
