Bendigo is set to host the first major live techno and house music event in regional Victoria since 2019.

For those looking to start 2022 with a real sweet treat on New Year’s Day, a brand new one-day dance music festival will descend on The Deck in Bendigo featuring Bendigo’s biggest lineup of house and techno DJs.

Dubbed ‘The Bendigo Summer Series: First Edition’ and presented by artistic music event management Heavenly Minded, the New Year’s Day event will feature nationally renowned DJ and producer, Jordan Brando who is delivering his own sellout Untitled Day Party, and has performed for festivals including Beyond the Valley and Pitch Music and Arts.

The key takeaways

  • A new NYD festival has been announced for Bendigo
  • Jordan Brando and Luke Alessi lead the inaugural lineup
  • Heavenly Minded are bringing the best in the business to the region, establishing Bendigo as a major entertainment hub

Up and coming DJ and producer Luke Alessi will also join the lineup, who’s unique sound and remix of Lastlings’ track ‘Déjà Vu’ sparked praise and gained support from leading producers both locally and internationally, and will be supporting grammy-nominated trio RÜFÜS DU SOL on their upcoming Australian tour.

With a distinct focus on championing live and local acts, the lineup will also include Melbourne DJ and producer Tiff Cornish, with her recent release ‘Rotate the Cylinder’ has been gaining rotation on Triple J’s Home and Hosed and Friday Night Shuffle programs; Erica Dal, who has been making waves through Levels Entertainment and will be supporting Australian electronic duo, Choomba on their upcoming tour; and Bendigo born and raised local DJ and producer Mason Flint who will also be joining the lineup, who’s hard-hitting production has seen him support acts such as Client Liaison, Havana Brown and Will Sparks.

If that’s not enough, you’ll also find sets from the likes of locals Drechsler, Falla, Jemima Lewis, Josh Opie, Inspector Norse, Riley Treloar, Jotham and Just Max, with two more major headliners due to be announced on November 11th.

Set to utilise the sprawling location of The Deck in new and exciting ways, the immersive event will also include art installations curated by visionary artist Itch, experimental botanical styles from Raven & The Rose, and stage design envisioned by Toggles who’s abstract and highly immersive work has been featured at festivals such as Rainbow Serpent and Esoteric with artistic input from Heavenly Minded co-founder Jay Pegg.

Pegg has an exceptional reputation for delivering creatively integrated music and art events, and is internationally recognised as one of the founding members of Melbourne’s street art community which established Melbourne CBD’s Hosier Lane. With experience curating music and art events for international brands across the globe such as Marvel, Disney, Smirnoff, Carlton United Breweries, Adidas and Converse, to name a few, this regional music festival is going to be one for the books.

“With an incredible lineup announced and two major headliners still to be released this event will launch Bendigo into the new year with a fresh and positive mindset, reverberating throughout the city, the Summer Series is here to stay,” says co-founder Jay Pegg.
