The Killers return to Australia & New Zealand in November-December next year.

After the toughest two years in a day on the green’s 21-year history, Australia’s favourite outdoor concert event is making its mammoth return to Geelong in 2022 with one of the biggest live bands in the world – The Killers.

Making the band’s a day on the green debut, The Killers will be performing two big outdoor shows at Peter Lehmann in the Barossa Valley, SA on Saturday 3 December, and Mt Duneed Estate in Geelong, VIC on Saturday 10 December 2022 as part of their Imploding The Mirage Australian tour, which also includes arena shows in Auckland, Christchurch, Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, Hunter Valley and Sydney.

Originally announced in 2020 in support of their critically acclaimed ARIA #1 album Imploding The Mirage but then cancelled due to the COVID pandemic, this will be The Killers’ first time back on our shores since their 2018 Australasian tour which included ten completely sold-out arena shows.

Released back in May 2020, their sixth album Imploding The Mirage features a huge spread of collaborations with artists including Lindsey Buckingham, kd lang, Weyes Blood Adam Granduciel (War On Drugs), Blake Mills and Lucius. Drawing from influences ranging from Kate Bush to Peter Gabriel, the album sees The Killers exploring a new sonic direction. Having moved from their hometown in Las Vegas before writing and recording the album, Imploding The Mirage leaves behind the grit of the band’s Nevada roots, pushing them out of their comfort zone.

Presented by Roundhouse Entertainment and Frontier Touring, the phenomenal live band will deliver an electric set filled with their biggest hits, non-single fan favourites and choice cuts from Imploding The Mirage, and perhaps even a few cuts from their seventh studio album, the quieter, character-study-driven Pressure MachineReleased earlier this year while touring was still on hold due to the pandemic, Pressure Machine is an aural document of growing up – and living – in the American Southwest, told from a myriad of perspectives.

Since first bursting onto the scene in 2004, topping Australian charts and going double platinum with debut album Hot Fuss, The Killers garnered instant popularity and widespread international success with their refreshing synth-rock sound, their infectious nature and their Las Vegas blood; plus Flowers’ unique vocals. Arguably the band’s biggest masterstroke was their sole release of bona fide earworm ‘Mr Brightside’ which went on to become song with the most weeks in the UK Singles Chart ever — clocking in at a total of 200 weeks.

Selling more than 30 million albums worldwide, and headlining all of the world’s top festivals including Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, the band have gone on to receive countless accolades, including multiple Grammy nominations, American Music Award nominations, MTV Video Music Awards and NME Awards.

On the very same day that 2017’s Wonderful Wonderful hit #1 on the ARIA Album chart, the band took to the stage at the hallowed Melbourne Cricket Ground for the 2017 AFL Grand Final and absolutely nailed their set, delivering exuberant energy that Geelong locals can expect from their forthcoming a day on the green performance.

This will be the first a day on the green performance at Mt Duneed since Midnight Oil performed to a reduced crowd on Saturday, March 20 earlier this year. Prior to that, in recent years the stage has featured sell-out performances from the likes of Florence and the Machine, Elton John, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cold Chisel, Bryan Adams and Robbie Williams, just to name a few.

The Killers will take to Mt Duneed Estate, Geelong on Saturday, 10 December 2022. Tickets on sale Monday 15 November via adayonthegreen.com.au/thekillers at 2pm local time. Set your alarms, this will sell out.
