‘Not Here, But Somewhere’ has a primary focus on the relationship between our mortality and its deep-rooted connection to the cosmos, Bourke says.
“The linear trajectory of life feels stuck here with our feet planted on the ground, but looking further, beyond our atmosphere, the concept becomes less linear and more vague.
“The unknown limits of the universe poses the question “where do things come to an end?” Will we chase our tails in the days coming of deep space exploration or will the foundations of what we know begin to replicate?
“Within an infinite universe, the very concept of life becomes distorted. The timelines we are so adjusted to become pointless, and what are believed to be tales of science fiction, could simply exist elsewhere. I may live to be a celebrity in one life, maybe have 13 fingers in another, or possibly a man of medieval time.
“However, I know that wherever I may exist in the cosmos, or whoever I may be, I can always see my family’s eyes looking back via nebulae and trace a lover’s freckles in a constellation at night.
“To exist is to feel deeply and truly, and to know that you are everything you sought to be, if not here, but somewhere.”
Opening night will be held on January 25 from 5-7pm with food and drink supplied by Rebecchis and CS Wine Co.
