The low-cost airline will start flying by January 31, with fares to the Whitsunday Coast, Cairns, Townsville, Coffs Harbour and more.
Good news holiday lovers, your 2023 getaways just got a lot cheaper and a little bit easier for those in the Geelong region!

Keep up with the latest Victorian travel destinations, news and tips here.
With an aim to open up routes to more of the country’s regional destinations, flying 27 routes to 17 locations, and offering low-cost fares in the process, Bonza has kicked off its initial rollout of flights with travellers able to book flights to 12 destinations on 15 routes with one-way fares starting at $49.
At a glance, most routes leave from the airline’s Sunshine Coast with the $49 flights getting passengers to Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie and Rockhampton. Legs to the Whitsunday Coast, Mackay and Newcastle come in at $59 from the Sunny Coast, while the $69 fares include trips to Albury and Townsville. For those in the Geelong region, flights from Avalon to the Sunshine Coast start from $79, with Bonza running three flights a week out of Avalon.
You can also fly from Cairns to Mackay for $49, to Rockhampton for $59 or Rockhampton to Townsville for $49 and Newcastle to the Whitsunday Coast for $79.
Bonza’s second batch of fares is expected to drop in a few weeks, including flights from its second base in Melbourne.

To book, keen holiday makers need to download the airline’s app (and for those who have already downloaded the app, Bonza has advised that it will need to be deleted and reinstalled to have the ability to book flights).
The airline was announced in 2021 and had initially planned to start flights in 2022, however its launch was delayed because it only received Civil Aviation Safety Authority approval in January 2023.
“The wait is over! 2023 is the “Year for Allstralia’, with low cost air travel to many holiday spots, some of which are relatively undiscovered.
“It’s time to see more of your own backyard for less,” Bonza chief commercial officer Carly Povey said.
“We’re delighted to be delivering on our commitment to make air travel more accessible. We promised choice and better connectivity to the regions for less and we’ve been beyond delighted with the support for our mission.“
Flights are currently available up until late October.
