The Dig is the new initiative shining a spotlight on Victoria’s independent record stores this weekend

Something for all the vinyl heads out there.

The art of crate digging is alive and well once again, and The Dig is the brand new event to prove it with local stores catering to OG hiphop heads, collectors looking for that rare find and DJs after a fresh haul for their Friday night set.

Presented by ALWAYS LIVE and Record Store Day Australia and taking place on Saturday, November 5, The Dig is shining a spotlight on Victoria’s independent record stores with a day of celebrations across the state as part of AusMusic Month.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Participating stores will be supported to develop their own program of activities on the day, including in-store performances, signings, limited edition releases and more.

The participating stores across Victoria include:

ALT CVLT
Basement Discs
Bendigo Vinyl
Greville Records
Natural Selection Records
No. 49
Northside Records
Oh! Jean Records
Old Plates Record Bar
Prehistoric Sounds
Rocksteady Records
Trash Cult
Wah Wah Records

Highlights of the day so far include Bendigo Vinyl’s first ever in-store performance from Matt Katsis; Greville Records with mutliple live performances from the likes of Norwood, Fenn Wilson, Gena Rose Bruce and more while commemorating Patti Smith’s Horses turning 47; Wah Wah Records will see a live performance from Sienna Wild alongside sales, discounts on vinyl and mew stock, maybe even a few beers, while Basement Discs will have performances from Fenn Wilson, Mick Thomas, Brooke Taylor, a music quiz and giveaways across the day.

Local fave Prehistoric Sounds is also getting involved in the celebrations with a rare duo performance from Eddy Boyle and Tim Conlan.

Simply head to individual store social pages and websites for more information leading up to the day and get around The Dig, your local stores and artists.
