Kingfisha: Offered it up

With this being the second album for Kingfisha it marks a continuation on the path of creating reggae infused dub/electronic music. The reggae comes through strongest on this release, and it’s fair enough as Kingfisha consider have slowly but surely cemented themselves as Australia’s premier reggae act. ‘Hold On’ may be a bit slow starting but when the brass kicks in just over the halfway mark the passion and soul is upped tenfold.

‘Dirty Man’ is a highlight for it’s light guitar, soothing vocals and Spanish-influenced guitar solos mid-way through. There’s a reason their debut received so much praise, and the effortless style seems to continue on with this release.

Further in and ‘The Gold’ is a breezy listen, ‘In a Memory’ finishes up with a triumphant brass finish, overall it’s a release that shows the development in the band’s style and a confirmation in exactly what Kingfisha is all about.
