Bill Bailey – En Route To Normal

How did we get here? How do we find our way through this? And exactly who are we again?

In Bill’s new show, En Route To Normal, Bill ponders these and other questions that this moment in history has thrown up and tries to see a way through the strange unreality of our new world.

With Bill naming the show before we’d even heard of Covid-19, En Route To Normal has become not just a funny, heart-warming mix of stories, music and history, but a personal mission to find our way through these strange times!

Last in Australia in 2018, the British Comedy Award winner is a frequent visitor to our shores, with Aussies flocking to theatres to see the master in action. Irreverent and immensely talented, En Route To Normal will be the seventh show that Bill has brought down under, delivered with the energy the multi-faceted entertainer is known for.

Teenage Dads – ‘Teddy’ Tour

Celebrating the release of their latest track, “Teddy” (Chugg Music/MGM) Teenage Dads are heading out on another headline tour through September and October with shows in many regional towns including Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Maroochydore, Ulladulla, Wollongong, Castlemaine, Ballarat and Scarborough in WA as well as shows in Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne.

Teenage Dads reputation as one of the most exciting new bands to see live keeps growing with every show. Having already performed to some of their biggest audiences ever as special guest on good mates Lime Cordiale’s tour earlier this year, the band’s own ‘Exit Sign’ tour saw packed rooms across Australia.

‘Teddy’ follows Teenage Dad’s April release ‘Exit Sign’ and 2021’s lauded ‘Club Echo’ EP. The band are preparing more songs for a wider release soon.

“if you know Teenage Dads then you know and if you don’t then you will soon enough” Dave Ruby Howe, Triple J

“a band that’s heating up the mosh like spitting oil in a frying pan. Their performance was infectious, and I would dare say addictive.”  – The AU Review

Volta is proud to present this event on Wadawurrung Country and we respectfully acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land, the Wadawurrung People of the Kulin Nation, on which our venue is located on, and their connections to music, land, and community. Laura Jean, Grand Salvo

Laura Jean returns to the Theatre Royal for the first time in over three years, to preview her forthcoming album Amateurs – out through Chapter Music in early November.

Amateurs is a stunning, string-laden album, set at a mystical midway point between the deep synth-pop of Laura’s last album, Devotionand the folkier sounds of her earlier work. Recorded in Stanmore and St Peters on Gadigal Country in-between the long 2020-2021 lockdowns, Amateurs is an album about anti-art and anti-intellectual culture, that sees Laura questioning her role as a songwriter and examining the reality of her choice to prioritise art over other parts of her life. It is also a warmhearted, humorous and sonically breathtaking album.

Special guest for this show will be Melbourne-based musician Grand Salvowho is acclaimed for his ability to transport listeners with atmospheric arrangements, detailed compositions, and immersive stories” Triple RRR

Laura Jean at the Theatre Royal Castlemaine is proudly supported by Gold Sounds Music Conference, a four-day event designed to bring together the Victorian music communities, held in Castlemaine, on Djaara country, from 13-16 October. Tickets on sale now: www.goldsounds.com.au
