Aussie comedy icon Jimmy Rees is ripping into Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo in ‘Let’s Get Regional’ tour

Australian entertainer, comedian, TV personality, host, author, dad and all-round funny guy Jimmy Rees is hitting the road again this year with his national Let’s Get Regional tour from February to July! This time, he’s taking the laughs to (and ripping into) 17 regional towns, including the local gems of Ballarat, Bendigo, and Geelong.

The Let’s Get Regional tour follows the phenomenal success of his Not That Kinda Viral tour, which grew from a 12-date plan to an impressive 24-show venture across Australia. With over four million social media followers, 43 million TikTok likes, and a whopping 200 million viewing minutes on Facebook alone last year, Jimmy Rees is undoubtedly a comedy force to be reckoned with.

Jimmy Rees ‘Let’s Get Regional’

  • Fri 16 Feb – Ballarat Civic Hall, Ballarat
  • Sat 17 Feb 6 pm & 8:45 pm – Ulumbarra Theatre, Bendigo
  • Sat 22 Jun – Costa Hall, Geelong

Keep up with the latest in local news and entertainment here.

Over the years, Jimmy’s social comedy and razor-sharp observational humour have resonated across generations. He’s not just the former Giggle on ABC’s Giggle & Hoot or the Dancing With The Stars contestant – Jimmy has evolved into a multi-generational entertainer.

It wasn’t until the pandemic though that Jimmy really solidified his personal reinvention. During Melbourne’s extended lockdown, Jimmy started releasing comedy content, gathering millions of social media followers and views on his videos. In particular, his Dan Andrew’s media conference parodies gained more daily viewers than the actual media conferences, while others fell for his hilarious (and highly accurate) takes on life, including favourites The Guy Who Decides (and Jason…. shut up Jason!) to the Brighton Ladies to the Meanwhile in Australia series and his POV takes on just about every city and profession.

In 2022, Jimmy embarked on his first headline tour, Meanwhile In Australia, which quickly grew to 34 sold-out shows, making it one of the biggest comedy tours in recent years. The enthusiasm from fans prompted another tour in 2023, the aforementioned Not That Kinda Viral, with demand reaching extraordinary heights – a testament to Jimmy’s wide appeal.

Beyond the stage, 2023 was huge, featuring a 10-week stint on Network TEN’s Taskmaster, a guest role in the Australian film Jones Family Christmas, a nomination in the TikTok Comedy Creator of the Year category, and becoming the face of Audible Australia.

Now the well-earned success continues, with Jimmy’s Let’s Get Regional tour expanding to 27 shows spanning five months.

“After touring metro cities over the last few years, I couldn’t be more pumped to be bringing a new live show to many local towns around the country where some I’m visiting and performing for the very first time,” Jimmy says. “Let’s Get Regional!…shut up Jason!”

Adding a heartwarming touch to the Let’s Get Regional tour, Jimmy will host two special charity fundraising shows in Lismore, NSW. These sold-out events aims to support the flood-affected town’s recovery fund, underlining the importance of ongoing assistance to the resilient community. What. A. Legend!

As for us locals, get ready for a night of uproarious fun as Jimmy Rees lands in Ballarat, Bendigo, and Geelong, among other regional hotspots. For those in Bendigo, there’s even a new 8:45 pm show, providing more opportunities to catch Jimmy live.

Having given a sneak peek of their new tracks at a SOLD OUT show at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Golledge expressed his gratitude, stating, “It was our first ticketed show in all the years playing the festival, and to sell it out felt amazing.”

The album’s title track, ‘Young, Dumb & Wild’, released ahead of the album, offers a glimpse into Golledge’s journey of overcoming performance anxiety and embracing liberation on stage. Meanwhile, the rollicking road trip anthem ‘Country Band’, released late last year, celebrates the various forms of love found in friendships, family, and band camaraderie.

Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Ryan Miller at Hercules Street Studios in Sydney, the 11 tracks of ‘Young, Dumb & Wild’ traverse the highs and lows of change and ageing, delivering what Golledge describes as ‘Alt-Country-esque Dad Rock’ tunes.

In addition to his musical exploits, Golledge is set to grace the small screen with an upcoming role in the drama ‘Thou Shalt Not Steal’, alongside esteemed actors Miranda Otto and Noah Taylor, slated for release on STAN later this year.

Tickets for the Andy Golledge Band album tour are available for purchase, with dates spanning across cities including Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, and more.

With seven massive arena shows lined up, this tour marks Tenacious D’s triumphant return to Aussie and Kiwi stages since their last visit back in 2013.

Before Tenacious D became synonymous with epic rock anthems, Jack Black and Kyle Gass were just a couple of theatre students with big dreams in late ‘90s Los Angeles. Fast forward to today, and their journey reads like a rock ‘n’ roll fairy tale – complete with a hit HBO variety series, a Platinum-certified self-titled album, and even a feature film, Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny.

But their accolades don’t stop there. With a GRAMMY® nomination for ‘Best Comedy Album’ and a win for ‘Best Metal Performance’ under their belt, Tenacious D has firmly cemented their status as musical legends. And let’s not forget their foray into animation with Tenacious D in Post-Apocalypto, a labour of love where every frame was hand-drawn by Jack Black himself.

Last year saw the launch of The Spicy Meatball Tour, with Tenacious D setting stages ablaze across 24 cities and selling out London’s iconic O2 arena within a week of the tour’s announcement. Their latest hit single, ‘Video Games’, marked their triumphant return to the airwaves after a five-year hiatus, while their tribute to Chris Issak’s ‘Wicked Game’ became an instant viral sensation.

As if that wasn’t enough, Jack Black dropped another bombshell with his surprise ballad ‘Peaches’ from the Super Mario Bros. movie soundtrack, proving that Tenacious D still has plenty of tricks up their sleeves.

Tickets for the much-anticipated event will be up for grabs from Friday 9th February at 12 pm local time here

Taking inspiration from their legendary van, the store’s fit-out promises a nostalgic nod to the past. Picture the same open work station where customers can witness their toasty doughnuts being expertly crafted – cut, cooked, and filled with classic raspberry plum jam – before taking a sugar-dusted plunge.

But, for the very first time, doughnut enthusiasts will be able to elevate their experience by pairing their doughnuts with a steaming cup of coffee from American Doughnut Kitchen, crafting the ultimate Melbourne market breakfast.

Belinda Donaghey, Managing Director of American Doughnut Kitchen, expresses her excitement about this significant expansion, a long-awaited journey for the family-operated business.

“This expansion has been a long-time coming and is a testament to our family’s commitment to creating moments of delight and connection. Our doughnuts are not just a treat; they are a symbol of tradition and indulgence. We’re excited to share our legacy with more doughnut lovers in Melbourne’s south while still staying true to our roots as a market trader.

“The new Prahran Market shop will be an open invitation to join the American Doughnut Kitchen family and discover just how much a humble jam doughnut can mean. We’re looking forward to meeting our new market neighbours and the endless partnership and collaboration possibilities that will come with it,” Belinda shared.
