Where’s Scottie? The National Celtic Folk Festival launches Bellarine-wide ‘Where’s Wally’ style competition

Ahead of the National Celtic Folk Festival (NCFF) arrival in June, bringing the best in Celtic culture to the shores of the Bellarine Peninsula, the festival has launched a ‘Where’s Wally” style competition of epic proportions.

From now until June 5, residents and tourists on the Bellarine will have a chance to win weekly prizes and one grand prize from the National Celtic Folk Festival in Portarlington, all centred around the new festival mascot (of sorts), Scottie.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

‘It’s not all beards and kilts’: How the 2023 National Celtic Folk Festival has something for everyone

“This all started as a fun idea when we decided to enter the Great Australian Scarecrow Competition at Flying Brick Cider House,” said Una McAlinden, Festival Director of the National Celtic Folk Festival.

“One of our team members took the reigns and created Scottie! We ended up placing second, and then thought people need to see him! Wouldn’t it be exciting if Scottie stopped in at venues across the Bellarine on the way to the event this year.”

The official “Where’s Scottie” campaign kicked off last weekend and Scottie is at his first stop on the way to the Festival. The competition is simple.

All you have to do is:
1) Find Scottie (he will move every week)
2) Take a photo with him
3) Post it to social media and tag @nationalcelticfestival
4) Follow the Festival and place where you found him!

Every week, one entrant will win some wine, courtesy of Cat Out Of The Bag (could be a hint of his first location). There will also be one Grand Prize winner who will receive two tickets to this year’s Festival.

The competition is open now, so get searching and help the NCFF find Scottie!

The National Celtic Festival is running from 9 to 12 June 2023. Ticketing and program information can be found at www.nationalcelticfestival.com
