Sleaford Mods (SOLD OUT)

Blasting out of a deeply divided Britain with a ferocious combination of punk energy, razor-sharp lyrics and abrasive electro beats, Nottingham duo Sleaford Mods have become one of the nation’s cult bands of the moment: unapologetic champions of working class anger in a post-Brexit, austerity-era landscape.

Drawing on the politically-charged power of bands like The Clash, The Jam and Public Enemy, singer-songwriter Jason Williamson and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Fearn broke out with their 2014 album Divide and Exit, which showcased their minimalist punk-hop, leading to collaborations with Leftfield and The Prodigy and a high-profile fan in Iggy Pop. With a dedicated fandom and a reputation for explosive live performances, the band crashed the UK top 10 with their follow-ups Eton Alive (2019), All That Glue (2020) and Spare Ribs (2021).

On the back of their blistering new record, UK Grim, Sleaford Mods return to Australia this June.

BALL PARK MUSIC
‘GET THE F**KING NERDS BACK ON’ TOUR

Our favourite f**king nerds are back on the road after the success of their latest self-produced album release ‘Weirder & Weirder’ and its corresponding national tour – which featured the band’s huge 500th show at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion. With ‘Stars In My Eyes’ reaching #8 on triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2022, Ball Park Music are excited to embark on a string of intimate theatre shows in Perth, Hobart, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne in May/June 2023

Frontman, Sam Cromack says “Can’t wait for this one. Our appetite to perform is huge. We’ve been through a lot of change in recent times, but it feels like we’re seeing clearly. We’re looking forward to getting back in some smaller theatres. They feel like our natural home. We wanna be close to the audience, to feel like we’re together in the same room. Paul got a new synth too, so that should be good.”

Joining Ball Park Music on stage at Northcote Theatre will be indie-punk rockers, The Buoys, and singer-songwriter,Elizabeth M. Drummond.

The Buoys recently opened for Arctic Monkeys in Sydney and have been playing several festivals and shows around the country including Alpine Valley Vibes, Best Night Ever, Rolling Sets, and more! Following the success of their previous single ‘Lie To Me Again’, which reached #85 on the Hottest 100 of 2021, the Sydney four-piece dropped their newest track ‘Red Flags’ last year with high acclaim. They’ve even popped into triple j to cover ‘Monster Mash’ with Alex The Astronaut and Hobba & Hing, sold out their Vivid LIVE show, supported Psychedelic Porn Crumpets on their national tour, and opened for Wet Leg’s SITG sideshow.

Elizabeth M. Drummond has re-entered the Australian indie music scene, this time as a solo artist, with her self-released debut EP ‘Congratulations’ late last year after relocating to Melbourne and departing from folk/rock outfit, Little May, which she formed in 2012 with Hannah Field and Annie Hamilton. Her latest six-track release, featuring singles ‘Congratulations’ and ‘Crisis’, is a grainy, garage-rock compilation of melancholic and self-reflective musings which has us all captivated. Recently, Drummond opened for Bad//Dreems in Melbourne and will now be opening for Ball Park Music in both Melbourne and Hobart.

This is a line-up you don’t want to miss out on!

JEN CLOHER – I AM THE RIVER, THE RIVER IS ME TOUR

I AM THE RIVER, THE RIVER IS ME TOUR

Jen Cloher (Ngāpuhi & Ngāti Kahu) is a songwriter and performer living on unceded Wurundjeri land in Naarm (Melbourne) Australia. Cloher’s taut, terse brand of rock is charged with the static tension that comes with being an eternal misfit; they have spoken truth to power with the shrewd eye that only an outsider can possess. Admirers have naturally gravitated towards Cloher’s incisive, generous songwriting. Over the course of five albums, they have won a J Award and an AIR Award and been nominated for an ARIA and the Australian Music Prize.

On their first album in five years, Cloher finally breathes out. I Am The River, The River Is Me, their fifth album, is verdant and rich; it luxuriates in stillness, and carries itself with cool, unfussy confidence. It suggests that home is not found in a place or a politic, but in the community you keep: Inspired by Cloher’s powerful matrilineal line of wāhine Māori, I Am The River, The River Is Me is not urgent, or hurried, but it is vital. The joy of life, Cloher seems to say, is in forgiving your moments of weakness with grace, and embracing the parts of you that are unfinished.

Praise for Jen Cloher (self-titled) 2017

STATIC-X (USA) + SOIL (USA)

From the moment Wisconsin Death Trip was released to an unsuspecting world, Static-X stood above. Their industrial alt-rock hybrid “Evil Disco” shook metal from its stagnant state and redefined what can be done with heavy music.

Each subsequent album enhanced and cemented the band’s well earned reputation.

In 2019, founding members Tony CamposKoichi Fukuda and Ken Jay recruited an unidentified mask wearing enigma on vocals known as Xer0 and hit the road to celebrate the band’s legacy, the anniversary of Wisconsin Death Trip and as a memorial to fallen frontman Wayne Static.

The love, esteem and respect for the band that give so much at every live show was reflected back to them from fans, critics and peers alike.

“After witnessing the band’s set in NYC’s Sony Hall, you can leave all preconceived notions at the door. Static-X is a wild and crazy good time to be had. An impassioned and unforgettable performance.  If you have the opportunity to see Static-X, GO. Don’t hesitate, just GO!” – Music Existence

This May, Static-X return to Australia to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their highly acclaimed album Machine with a setlist that includes a slew of songs from their expansive career; from their iconic debut, Wisconsin Death Trip, through to their latest and aptly titled
Project:Regeneration Vol 1

“We are so excited to finally get back to Australia. We plan to play most of the songs off of both Machine and Wisconsin Death Trip as well a number of nice surprises. It’s going to be one for the ages and we can’t wait to get out there and celebrate 20 years of our Machine record while we continue to remember all of the good times that we had with Wayne and to share it live and loud with all of our Aussie fans. It’s going to be awesome!” – Tony Campos

“The signature sound of that metallic, disco thumping, modern metal 1-2 punchy dance beat is well placed in almost every track on here, (Project Regeneration) really is the best of what Static-X is.”  The Rockpit

Joining Static-X for the tour are SOiL; pioneers of a sound that gave the world bands such as Godsmack, Spineshank and Mudvayne, SOiL’s influence goes deep. Frontman Ryan McCombs powerful vocals spawned a thousand imitators and they were one of leading acts to modernise rock at the turn of the century…The band will be performing their groundbreaking album. Scars, in full as well as other favourites.

Gallery 3rd Birthday ft. Cassettes For Kids (Live), James Pepper, Jazz, Lex, Rino (Live), Suki

Oh how time flies…

Just like that, we’ve done three laps around the sun. And it’s time to celebrate!

On May 19th, we’re taking over The Night Cat for a Gallery family affair. A full venue takeover featuring sets from our nearest and dearest. This is our biggest event of the year and we can safely say it’s not one to miss.

Through all the madness over the last few years, we’ve been humbled to release such incredible music from our brilliant roster and host parties that bring smiles to faces. This will be a night to dance, link arms with your favourite folk and party with the artists you hold dear.

We were blown away with the response for last year’s Bday event, it’s rare to get the whole crew together and our third iteration will be no different. It’s been a hell of a trip up until this point. Come and dance to Gallery’s past, present and future.

We are in for one special night.

After Birth – A Cabaret

Anna-Lee Robertson is on hiatus from charming musical theatre audiences across Australia, Asia, and the UK to revel in her latest adventure: motherhood.

After Birth – A Cabaret is Robertson’s irreverent and affectionate account of the trials and tribulations of her life as a new mum.

After Birth highlights Robertson’s trademark self-deprecation and wit as she examines the universal truths of parenting. Her comic anecdotes and perceptive musings are beautifully underscored by the story of a mother’s abiding love, which can only be captured in music.

The perfect Mother’s Day Gift – A panacea for every exhausted and devoted parent!

Reeve cleverly weaves his own story and love of music by showcasing his amazing vocal ability to reproduce the sound quality of a multitude of well-known artists including Tim Curry, Macy Gray and Freddie Mercury.

Reeve points out early on in the show that he is not an impersonator, but rather reproduces the sound of a particular artist or object.

Supermercado Records Presents… Supermercado Live feat. Honeysmack, Vanessa Worm, Hedchef & Jani Ho (ALL LIVE)

Supermercado Records presents Supermercado Live, an all live electronic music event celebrating the DJ Computer Crunk EP out on Supermercado in May. The EP features techno / acid banger “Finger to Finger’ by Honeysmack along with remixes from Luca Lozano (Klasse Wrecks, UK), Vanessa Worm (Optimo, NZ), Nathalie Copello (Dansu Discs, Berlin), Disruptive Pattern Material (Rekids, Detroit) and a host of local legends.

The Supermercado Live experience showcases an ALL LIVE and hardware focussed line-up including Honeysmack, Vanessa Worm, HedChef and Jani Ho at the legendary Night Cat. We have decided to pay homage to the EP and the artist in a way that honours Honeysmack’s pure approach to live electronic performance. Supported by the legendary Vanessa Worm following releases on Optimo, the critically acclaimed album Mosaics and performances at Meredith Music Festival, we are expecting the talent laden line-up to deliver a truly unique and unlikely to be repeated live electronic music experience.

Honeysmack:

Dr David Haberfeld is Honeysmack, the doctor of live Acid Techno. Labelled a maverick producer and performer who brings a punk-rock aesthetic and philosophy to electronic music. He firmly believes the essence of electronic dance music resides in live improvised performance. Honeysmack has significantly contributed to Australia’s electronic dance music community for 3 decades. Equal parts performer, producer, prankster, punk, disrupter and academic, but all electronic – Honeysmack’s reputation for challenging audiences by pushing the stylistic parameters of Techno is common throughout his work.

His dynamic performances and productions are purely hardware based and centre on Roland’s iconic machines of the 1980s including the TB-303, TR-909 and TR-808. These machines were pivotal in the development of electronic dance music, and David continues to explore new contexts with these vintage machines with a mix of new hardware and modular synthesis.

Every Honeysmack performance and release are pure improvisations with an arsenal of drum machines and synths. There are no laptops, there are no records, there are no CDJs, there are no USBs, this is not DJing, this is LIVE Acid Techno performed and produced in the moment! His PhD in music composition focused on how he creates Acid Techno bangers in real-time!
