Geelong ‘Let’s Talk’ is the event confronting the stigma of mental health

Even with all the work done with mental health charities and organisations, there’s still somewhat of a taboo in talking about the issue of mental health. Hoping to open up that discussion for the region is the Geelong Let’s Talk… event set for The Geelong Hotel on June 14.

Helping aid the discussion on the night will be Geelong identity and beyondblue ambassador Tony McManus. In 2005, Tony’s brother took his own life, and it was at his brother’s funeral where his widow asked family and friends to support beyondblue that Tony first got involved with the organisation. His involvement has focused around men’s mental health, and since then he has played a key role in the AFL beyondblue Cup and the Grey Cats supporter group of the Geelong Cats AFL Club.

Entertainment will also be provided by Mario Raffaele on the night, with a health and wellness raffle package up for grabs on the night.

Tickets to the night are $45 and include food, some guest speakers and a conversation about mental health, anxiety and depression in a casual setting.

This event will be raising funds for beyondblue, with 100% of ticket sales going towards the charity.
