Having been described as the “female version of Prince” should be all that is required to convince you to check out Z Star, the project of British/Trinidadian singer songwriter Zee Gachette.
Of course, standing ovations from the likes of Jimmy Page, Roger Daltrey and the late Amy Winehouse do no harm, either. Steeped in psychedelic rock soul, the musical adventures of Z-Star began some 15 years ago. Later, she founded Muthastar Records. Backing up from a visit in 2015, Z Star will hit Australia armed with 16 Tons of Love. The album shares its name with an earlier EP.
