Wollongong's two-day party Yours & Owls Festival will again return in April 2022.
Following its successful COVID-safe event in April this year, going down as the first major music festival in Australia since the pandemic hit last year, Yours & Owls are backing it up for 2022, promising to return bigger and better in 2022.
Long recognised as a Spring festival, Yours & Owls took over Wollongong’s Dalton Park on Saturday, 17th and Sunday, 18th April 2021, and now organisers have confirmed the dates for the festival’s full return.
The key takeaways
- Yours & Owls have confirmed the dates for the festival’s full-scale return in 2022
- Yours & Owls will feature a larger site, again returning to their spiritual home by the sea, Stuart Park
- A lineup announcement is expected in the coming weeks
Returning to its home by the sea at Stuart Park, Wollongong, next year’s festival will take place on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 2022.
“We kinda fell in love with those autumnal April feels this year, so we are going to revisit them in 2022, with a new date of April 2 & 3! Aint nothin’ like a #GongChristmas two weeks before Easter,” the festival said in a statement.
While the 2022 lineup is yet to be announced with that expected to come in the next couple of weeks, with restrictions easing around the country and international arrivals allowed once more, we’re betting this edition will be bigger (larger site and more people), and better, giving starved music lovers the festival they deserve.
Festival-goers are encouraged to save the date and sign up to the Yours & Owls mailing list to receive any forthcoming news regarding the event.
With a sophisticated dual revolving stage setup and a local-only lineup, this year’s festival saw the likes of Sydney’s favourite Inner West twins Cosmo’s Midnight; Windang’s favourite descendants Hockey Dad; Aussie rock trio DMA’S; multi-platinum selling, ARIA award-winning electronic gods PNAU and the globally-dominating electro-pop powerhouse Hayden James, as well as Lime Cordiale, Running Touch, What So Not, Winston Surfshirt, The Smith Street Band, Slowly Slowly, Children Collide, Stand Atlantic, The Vanns, Haiku Hands, B Wise, Clowns, among many others.
“Firstly we want to thank all of you for sticking with us through the trash and treasure of these past two years; it has been a time.”
“Now that we have had time to rest, recover and take stock of what it took to execute a festival in the middle of a pandemic, we are seeing just how freaking crazy it was to think we could pull that off! But thanks to you guys, your belief and your unbridled support for us, we did it! We made history dancing through two days and two nights, unpenned, in the middle of a bloody pandemic!”
