Oh, come one, come all, to this nautical fest, where the films are as blue as the ocean’s wide chest; watch whimsical waves invite dolphins to play as the whales swim in harmony to the seagull’s gaze.
Here lies a folk festival that’s as old as the trees, where the fiddles play riddles and the mandolins run free; come you may find an accordion squeak the air, as folks gather ’round with nary a care. There are apples that are red, there are apples that are green, this festival has the appleist apples you ever have seen; they come with a crisp, they come with a crunch, from the tangy and tart to the sweetest of sweet.
It’s Dr. Seuss’ birthday this month, so what better way to honour it than by bastardising his wonderful prose? As my neighbour says, ‘If you can’t do something better, do it worse’. Good fella, but not so good with the advice. First published in 1990, Dr. Seuss’ Oh, the Places You’ll Go! has long been a popular graduation gift for students completing their studies. It is, indeed, a much better graduation seller than Dr. Spruce’s Oh Dear God What Do I Do Now, I Don’t Know Which Way is Up and Which Way is Down.
And so it goes that journeys will end, so too will new ones begin. To those shuffling their feet to university for the first time, go well. And if you stumble, don’t let yourself crumble. Life’s known for its occasional fumble. The world is vast, and life is long, but you can always find joy in your favourite songs. Silliness aside, I wish you all the best with your studies. May you find your way.
I hope you enjoy March’s wonderrific festivals and events…
