You can now take virtual tours of the NGV exhibitions

Due to COVID-19, most of Melbourne’s cultural institutions have closed their doors for the foreseeable future to help contain the spread of the virus, including the National Gallery of Victoria.

Luckily we’ve come along way this past decade and technology has meant we can do things we would never have thought possible, including a visit the NGV virtually from your own couch.

As part of the virtual programming launched last month, a series of virtual exhibition tours, ebooks, and online galleries are free to access via the NGV website.

Currently on the NGV Channel, guests will discover a whole world of virtual content, instantly curing any isolation boredom. You can join free curator-led tours and digitally explore exhibitions including Keith Haring & Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Crossing Lines, KAWS: Companionship In The Age Of Loneliness and Top Arts 2020, just to name a few.

You’ll also find a haul of video content to wrap your eyes around, including a how-to series on sketching and numerous meaningful and enlightening interviews with artists and curators. Bookworms can indulge in a series of e-books and cultural essays.

Over on the NGV app, there are also guided tours of NGV International and NGV Australia artworks, narrated by curators, artists and special guests.

Alongside all of this, you can even browse the NGV’s massive online collection, which includes much of the 75,000-strong NGV Collection.

Get your iso art fix over at the NGV website or via their socials today.
