Yodelling, great beer, cider and slap-dancing come together for the Otway Oktoberfest

It’s heading towards that time when the stein reigns supreme. Yes, we’re staring down Oktoberfest and all its beerful glory. Be sure to keep an eye on your local for events, but the cracker we’re taking a gander at is Otway Oktoberfest.

In its ninth year, the event will feature 10 craft breweries and one cidery from the Otway and surrounding areas.

Prickly Moses Head Brewer, Luke Scott: “There are so many great craft breweries in the region that we wanted to put on an event which really showcased all the fantastic things happening in the industry right here in our own backyard. This year’s Otway Oktoberfest will allow the punters to taste a heap of local craft beers, without having to travel around to each brewery. It’ll be like a mini craft beer festival right here in the Otway.”

Otway Oktoberfest will also run a home brewers comp where some 50 entries will be judged by a panel of industry experts.

Slap dancing, live oom-pah music, a yodelling competition, delicious Bavarian food and prizes for best dressed are other features. Plus, brewers will team up for a special collaboration beer.

The Otway Estate is your host. Saturday, October 15 is the date. Further information is available through otwayestate.com.au.
