The world's foremost primatologist and anthropologist Jane Goodall will lead WOMADelaide's 2022 Planet Talks discussion forums.
Planet Talks, which will be held from March 11 to 14 as part of the broader WOMADelaide festival this year, will present three days of discussion featuring a range of Australian and international speakers, none more famous than Goodall.
Goodall, who’ll be interviewed via video link, has spent 60 years studying and raising awareness of the close relationship between primates (specifically chimpanzees) and humans, and now plays a key role in advocating for greater recognition of the effects of climate change.

Other Planet Talks sessions:
- Exploring Restoring Ecology and how civilisation and nature have sustainably cohabitated for millenniums
- Arguing that Electrifying Everything won’t just benefit the climate but is beneficial for everyone.
- Reimagining Our Relationship with Insects and examining how they shape our understanding of ecosystems and even gastronomy.
- The final session Future Forward, will feature six young, engaged, and passionate advocates for change considering what, in the eyes of today’s youth, a renewed relationship with the planet could look like.
“Planet Talks are an exciting and crucial forum for discussion and debate regarding the challenges and solutions ahead and a virtual snapshot of Australia’s wider conversations around sustainability and ecological concerns,” WOMADelaide Director, Ian Scobie said.
