WIN! We’re giving away tickets Unsung, a loud, proud and raucous celebration of Aussie pop and rock women

Powerhouses of cabaret Amelia Ryan and Libby O’Donovan join forces to bring Unsung to Geelong this month.

Taking audiences on a journey back before Kylie and Delta to explore and celebrate the often forgotten female musicians of the 1960s, award-winning cabaret powerhouses Amelia Ryan and Libby O’Donovan will set fire to the stage this May as part of the beloved Geelong Arts Centre’s 2022 season.

Hitting the Costa Hall stage next Saturday, May 21, Unsung celebrates the true experiences of two incredibly resilient Australian women.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here.

Accompanied by a full band, Ryan and O’Donovan bring the past to life in a rollicking, raucous celebration of songs and stories from 1960s Australia that pay homage to female Aussie music icons who blazed the trails for generations to come.

Hear the likes of Lynne Randell, Little Patti, Judy Stone, Marcie Jones, Margret Roadknight, Wendy Saddington, and Alison McCallum, in an uplifting and nostalgic hour that pays homage to the women who blazed the trails for generations to come.

Through history, heart, and hilarity, they bring these incredible women – and their music – out of the sidelines, and into their rightful place in Aussie music history!

Beautifully written and performed by Amelia Ryan, and featuring Libby O’Donovan; recent winner of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2022 Icon Award, Unsung brings together superb vocals, stories and strength.

With two performances – a 1:00 pm matinee and 7:30 pm evening show – Unsung is a live music experience not to be missed.

“The focus for Geelong Arts Centre’s Our Season 2022 is highlighting the voices of those who have overcome hardship, broken down barriers and fought for their place upon the world stage. Unsung celebrates the true experiences of two incredibly resilient Australian women, and we can’t wait for the Geelong community to be inspired by their story,” says Geelong Arts Centre Senior Producer – Programming and Creative Engine, Penny McCabe.
