Currently sitting on an almost unheard of Rotten Tomatoes rating of 100%, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is the new action-comedy from Nicolas Cage starring as… Nicolas Cage, hitting the big screen through StudioCanal on April 21.
Creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, the fictionalised version of Cage must accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a super fan (Pedro Pascal).
When things take a wildly dangerous turn, Cage is recruited by a CIA operative (Tiffany Haddish) and forced to live up to his own legend, channelling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones. With a career built for this very moment, the Academy Award® winning iconic actor must take on the role of a lifetime: himself.
Directed by Tom Gormican and also starring Neil Partrick Harris, Sharon Horgan and Tiffany Haddish, this flick has been described as ‘a raucous journey that’ll leave you with a grin plastered on your face’ with filmmakers pulling from every corner of Cage’s filmography to craft something transcendent.
It will take a true Cage aficionado to be in on all the jokes, but we’ll accept that challenge.
