The terrifying new chapter from the book of SAW hits cinemas May 13.
Do you want to play a game?
Well, we hope so because a twisted new challenge is about to begin with the release of Spiral: From the Book of Saw, the new instalment in the long-running Saw franchise.
It’s hard to argue, but Saw (2004) is one of the greatest horrors of the modern era. Written by Leigh Whannell and directed by James Wan, both Aussies, Saw flips the serial killer genre on its head with films about killer John Kramer, known as Jigsaw, who forces his victims to escape from inventive and dangerous traps in hopes of teaching them the value of life.
The heart-attack-inducing thriller made over $100 million at the box office, so a sequel was inevitable. Sixteen years and eight films later, the franchise has been revived.
Recruiting Saw II, III and IV director Darren Lynn Bousman, SPIRAL, the terrifying new chapter from the book of SAW follows the story of a sadistic mastermind who unleashes a twisted form of justice.
Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past.
Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the centre of the killer’s morbid game.
Produced by the original SAW team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules, this is one for horror and SAW fans alike. Check out the trailer below.
