Where to buy a real Christmas Tree in the Geelong region in 2023

Words by Ashlee Simpson

Where to buy a Christmas tree locally around Geelong this year, because we're so over plastic ones.

You can hear the distant jingle of bells… You can feel the ice dripping as Michael Buble defrosts… You can see fathers wobbling on the ladder as they try to restrain the inflatable Santa on the roof… You can smell the trio of meats and veggies perfectly seasoned and roasting in the oven… You can taste the whisky your weird uncle gave you that is just not quite right…

Christmas is coming and there is no doubt about that. But one age-old dilemma we all face each year is whether to buy a real Christmas tree or to dust off the grotty old plastic one from somewhere in the garage; because Geelong’s iconic floating tree will just not suffice!

Looking for a market? A massive indoor Christmas Market is coming to Geelong with 100+ local makers

There have been many debates surrounding the positives and negatives of real vs fake Christmas trees, and it has been determined that buying real trees is not just amazing for having that Christmassy scent linger, but is also the most eco-friendly solution as farmers work towards harvesting trees with the upmost sustainability.

Research has found that plastic trees are substantially found within the surge of waste that the Christmas and New Years period produce and are left to spend years in landfill, which adds to the favour of buying real trees; a biodegradable, eco-friendly alternative that not only benefits the household which it resides in, but also the environment, farmers, and small businesses that sell the trees.

Plus, there’s the option this year to get all of your decorations and goodies from the Big Christmas store locally. Now that you’re convinced to buy a real tree this year, here’s your complete guide on where to buy one locally this year.
