The days get shorter and the nights get long. Famous lyrics from the mighty Rolling Stones indeed. The days are getting shorter but the list of fine musicians coming to the Goldfields region is enough to fill any social diary with many must see highlights. Beautiful clear sunny days followed by cooler nights is making the transition from a cleansing ale to a nice bottle of red incredibly easy!
High class thrash metal/grind core/sludge metal act King Parrot are playing Karova Lounge on April 16 .The band have done some miles all over the world since forming in 2010, playing right across Australia, Indonesia and North America. If you are new to this genre, perhaps get on Soundcloud and have a listen to The Stench Of Hardcore Pub Trash before you venture down to Karova. If you like hardcore rock played loud and fast, these guys will definitely float your boat.
Thirsty Merc are also coming to Karova Lounge on April 21 which will be a gig not to be missed. Rai Thistlethwayte is a very gifted musician/songwriter and the band have had some nice tracks played on commercial radio over the last decade or so with a reasonable amount of success.
The band are heading off on their Back To The Grind Tour after some tough times in late 2015. In which their stage manager was tragically killed in a car accident on the way to one of their gigs in Warnambool.
Get down and give some much needed support to the boys. I may well see you there for a froffy.
Georgia State Line are a five-piece country clan hailing originally from Bendigo and they bring their twangin’ sounds to Babushka Bar on April 22. From what I’ve heard from the band, there will be some delightfully sweet vocals and classy, tasteful guitar playing to be heard at the very least if you head along to this show. Interesting to note that Patrick Wilson is supporting on the night. Wilson was the drummer and co-founder of Weezer. They travel from near and far to play in our sweet little town.
For jazz lovers, Vince Jones is playing at Suttons House of Music on April 29. With 20 albums to choose a set list from, it’s another good reason to step out for the night. I’m off to add more of these gigs to my calendar!
