Western Edge Youth Arts – the local youth theatre organisation working with young people from culturally diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds to create rich and original theatre – have been successful in their application to the Australian Council for the Arts 2021-2024 four-year funding program.
Challenging the cultural status quo of this country, and bringing marginalised narratives firmly into the spotlight, WEYA will use this funding to strengthen the communities being built by the young people they work with and amplify the conversations they are having by providing safe creative spaces and sustainable career pathways for artists in Melbourne’s west.
As only one of 95 organisations who were successful, this funding represents long-term security which fuels artistic innovation, enables deeper engagement with community, and ensures staff well-being.
Keep your eye on their platforms and get behind them when you can!
