We talked beer with a bunch of bands performing at Ballarat Beer Festival

It should come as no surprise that musicians love a good beer, and it’s only naturally for it to be the case for the bands performing at the upcoming Ballarat Beer Festival.

We sat down with a few of the bands on the bill to talk all things beer-related.

Riflebirds

What’s your favourite type of beer?

It’s summer, so a super crisp lager, icy cold from the esky or ice tub. Pool bar to swim up to would be good. Can we work that in?

If your band was a beer, what would it be and why?

A Stout. We sit at the bar for a while, take some time to settle, generally there’s some bitterness early on then we hit our stride and by the end there’s a call for more, with a whiskey chaser.

What are you looking forward to most at the event?

Playing at 1pm then enjoying some fine brews and awesome live music all afternoon.

The Houndlings

What’s your favourite type of beer?

A lager, freshly poured into a cold 7 ounce glass with a good head on it.

If your band was a beer what would it be and why?

A keg, because everyone can enjoy it!

What are you most looking forward to about the event?

The beers and the other bands.

Michael Meeking and the Lost Souls

What’s your favourite type of beer?

My favourite type of beer is cold! Nothing worse than a warm beer. Other than that I’m pretty partial to a good Pale Ale. I’m actually drinking a “Chop Shop” pale Ale at the moment. First time I’ve tried it and good tastes good.

If your band was beer, what would it be and why?

If our band was a beer we’d probably have a high alcohol content and the beer would probably give you a bit of a kick.

What are you looking forward to most about the event?

We are really looking forward to playing at the beer festival and meeting some of the locals. As we are playing first on the bill we are really looking forward to sampling as many different beers as we can as watching the rest of the bands.

Dallas Crane

What’s your favourite type of beer?
Beer we didn’t pay for.

If your band was a beer what would it be and why?
It’d be a can of Duff. Has become more collectible with age.

What are you most looking forward to about the event?
Bringing the love, the laughs, and the joy of music to the people.

This Way North

What’s your favourite type of beer?

Leisha loooooves her sour beer, particularly sour cherry beer, Cat is more of a pale ale kinda gal.

If your band was a beer what would it be and why?

It would be a gose, easy to drink on a hot day and leaves you with a little tasty something to remember us by.

What are you most looking forward to about the event?

It’s a very close call between sampling all the amazing beer selection (particularly the sours) and playing music for you all! I’m not even going to pick the winner out of that one.

All of these bands are appearing at the Ballarat Beer Festival on this Saturday. Tickets are still available via the website.
